No, not him. Good guess, though. You're closer than last time.

He's a fine fellow to guess, but, no, not Legolas.

It cannot be Gandalf the White, or Gandalf Greyhame?

Ah, but it can. Mithrandir was the name I was thinking of, but you were close enough. Thread's yours.

Oh! Caught me by surprise. The better known characters are harder to guess.
Remember these men? No carrots and coal for them!

Wait, let me ask this first:
Is there really a moment when men are denied literally carrots and coal?!

No, no (well, not to my knowledge!). This question is more...abstract? Maybe only people from certain parts of the world will get it. :\

The only connection I can establish is that snowmen are decorated with coal and with carrots to look more human.
Let me think then... no clue really what I should look for...

Well, there's no hint now that could help you further...
EDIT: Lommy, you're right! It is, in fact, the Snowmen of Forochel, the Lossoth! I've been waiting to include them in a question for some time.

If Miggy wants to, he may take the thread, though, because I would never have realised it without him.

That was a good one, and I'm grateful it was solved so quickly. I'd have likely been tearing out hair over it by this time tomorrow.

Hehe, I'll take that compliment. The Snowmen have always fascinated me - not only because of their name, but because they used to slide around on the ice with bones on their feet! I wonder if they invented hockey too?
*waits for TM*

No, no, Lommy should go ahead here because it takes a lot more to make a connection to the Lossoth in my opinion, I definitely had not even thought of that.
So Lommy, do continue, please!

Well, I disagree, but I'll take the thread if you insist.
Remember the one who was first the younger one but then the old one?

A lot of people come under that category, but do you mean someone who aged really quickly?

Hmm. I must've read your question too fast.
The younger first and then the older? Bizarre. Brain warming up...

Warm your brain carefully.... I won't give any hints until it starts to look like too difficult.

Very, very tough! There are a few to whom the clue might apply. My first guess will be Earendil, who was probably the youngest escapee from the sacking of Gondolin. He was, of course, made immortal, and as far as we know is still up in the sky (that's pretty old).

Hmmm, nice reasoning (and the kind of thinking I'm sort of looking for) but no, it's not Eärendil. Anything else interesting among your few ideas?

Yes, in fact!
Meneldil. Purportedly the last birth in Numenor and a fourth child, yet he was the first of his siblings to take the throne (maybe they sisters?). I have a feeling that's not correct though.

My guess is King Aldor the Old of Rohan, who became king after the death of his elder brother, Baldor.

Beregond's on the right track but Inziladun has the right answer. Please take the thread, sir.
It wasn't too difficult after all, was it?

Thanks much. The finding of Baldor's remains by Aragorn and Co. I've always found fascinating.

The fields of battle in Arnor, where the Hobbits sent archers who never returned from the war against Angmar?
