Hello, everyone! This thread has certainly grown since last time I was here...
Susan - this is probably out of left field but is the answer a witch? (If I remember correctly witches weren't supposed to be able to cast shadows. Or be photographed, for that matter). Samwise - Is yours illness? It certainly grabs you quickly, anyway...

Hi, Kalimac! good to see you.
Susan, I'm stumped. That's a good riddle. I have nothing pertinent to add, neither guesses nor further riddles. I think I'm riddles out. [ April 20, 2002: Message edited by: Raefindel ]

No, it is neither a witch nor a cloud (clouds leave shadows...)
Was I on the right track by naming an emotion?

As no-one answered, I thought I'd put in to you again.
With no wings, I fly. With no eyes, I see. With no arms, I climb. More frightening than any beast, stronger than any foe. I am cunning, ruthless, and tall; in the end, I rule all. What am I? A.Y.S. F.G.

Wow, I would have said "death" for the answer to that, even though if you believe in an afterlife it's not entirely accurate. Ruthless and tall sounds almost like a Ringwraith, or the Grim Reaper or the King of Terrors, for that matter (wow, I'm cheerful tonight ).

I still prefer "fate" as an answer to that one...

Oh well, yes, you are right Tigerlily Gamgee, The answer is indeed the imagination.
Next time I will try to check on previous used riddles before leaving another. Don't want to look like a clutz now do I! May your days be long and your journey short. Just for clarity, a movie is not an emotion...
a car? something predatory with big teeth, like a dinosaur or a tiger? a tornado? no... a really gripping novel? oh, wait, somebody already guessed "story" electricity? ideas? Am I close with any of these? That is something I pride myself on, Greenbow. I shoot with my heart, and I remember the face of my father.

If sai Delgado is incorrect with those, you could always try and give us another clue Samwise!!
If you can of course. Personally I am at a loss to what it is! F.G.

A clue....er...well... Okay, the thing that does the "grabbing" is actually a part of the thing that people reach for. Quote:

Like a giant lobster picking somebody with its claws? No, that would actually be quite terrifying.
I believe Sai Greenbow is correct. We need a better clue...it's a physical object, part of which is not hands, but which can still grab. Does the use of the word "grab" denote a physical clutching, or something less tangible? Eee, this riddle is fun! Thanks!

All right, I'll ask one then.
Out of the plain rises a hill. Your feet can't reach it, try as they will. Two hands can touch it, one eye can view it, But try as they will, two eyes can't do it. [ April 30, 2002: Message edited by: Susan Delgado ]
