No, it wasn't a punishment, it was a luck of the draw on how our map works. Let me explain: You see a map with dots showing where you are now. We see a map with dots of where you are now, everywhere you've been, everywhere you could have been, and everywhere you could end up. All scenarios and positions are preset for the sake of fairness. You were unfortunate enough to land on a spot the led south no matter which way you took. The would have happened to Valesse, except that she had two moves, and so moved South and then West. Something similar happened to THE Ka when she was "lost" up in the northern mountain range and had to retrace her steps. It was just bad luck with the course you picked.

Ok. Didn't know there was as much chance as that. Does it also move players forward?

Since I don't have a working net access home I might be unable to write my scenario today (unless Valier sends me my scenario and is able to answer my questions soon).

Not a bad idea Valier, as I know Lommy has problems too.
It's kind of structural problem for us Europeans when the deadline is in the morning and for reason or another we are not able to get the scenarios or answers to the questions but the late evening before the next morning deadline... Next time 48-hour days might be a good idea? And Valesse regretted her post being a long one... (Well sorry for mine too. It's pretty quiet in the RPG's I'm in right now ... and today's challenge was just overwhelming: I was quite sure I would be never going to make it!)

I too couldn't resist the long post. The RPG's I'm in have fallen silent as well. So...

I'm not sure I'll be able to come back later and I can't even think of questions to ask for this scenario so I'm just going to go ahead and post. Hope that's ok.

I totally agree with Valier in the game thread: the best day so far! Congrats fellows! I really enjoyed reading the posts! It will be hard to come up with the vote in this company...

The last storyline is posted!!! After the winner has posted their last finishing post, you may all do the same. Feel free to react the way you want. I will leave the game thread for all of you to finish up with your characters. I would like to leave this discussion thread going for awhile for comments and suggestions and the likes. Feel free to share any thoughts you had about the game.
I would like to thank everyone who played. Thank you so much for making the game a success. I had so much fun reading all your posts... I could go on forever.... You all know you did good!! A special thanks to Rune and Roa for all their help.....There would have been no game without you two. Great game from all and it was very close at the end!!

This was also much fun to read! Didn't look so good for you in the middle of the game, when you missed one post, but a handshake and "Congratulations This-Gloomy!" and even more "Congratulations Lommy!" AND "Congratulations Valier!".
A succesful game this was, only thing that wasn't so great was the night-chat, hard to have a working thing like that... |

That was a lot of fun. Congratulations to everyone involved, especially Valier for instigating it.
Perhaps in the future the game should go at a more leisurely pace? It was sometimes a bit annoying for my family having me demand online three times a day.

I truly enjoyed this, not least because the RPG's I'm in have been having a siesta of some kind for some time...
It was a fun game! Thanks to Valier, Rune and Roa! Congrats Lommy, you deserved to win! If the Ka would have won, I would have written the same sentence as above for Lommy. I really appreciated your posts! Others did well too, sometimes really great, but as a continuos performance I liked Lommy and the Ka the best. I agree with Eomer about the more leisurely pace the next time. There were times when I got the answers to my questions atfter 10PM local time and had to be at work early in the morning (and the deadline was 10AM that morning, so no possibilities of writing anything in the early hours). And Lommy had it tougher than I had, on a day or two. 48-hour days perhaps? And then we should think about the function of the nights (other than as a space for voting). Spm was right that we lacked some of the intensity and competition. Those could have been heightened with some encounters during the nights, but there should be some basic rules and guidelines as to what is allowed and what is possible in the first instance. And surely an agreement on what we would want from them... Thanks everyone!

Thanks for playing and doing such a great job everyone. I realy enjoyed the posts especially at the end there was some real gems.
It was a bit hard being original when you had to write that many scenarios. . . I had to write 26 and the others had even more. I felt realy bad when I send out the river crossing to Nogrod, I was simply out of ideas when I wrote that. I agree there was some problems with sending out scenarios and such, it was mainly just bad luck. Maybe it would be better to make the days longer, I don't know. Anyways thank you for a great game everbody. |

A sudden idea poped into my head as I was writing my last post in the game thread: What if we turned all of these characters into an actual RPG? We could change our names up a bit. But here was what I was thinking: Thinlo (being the winner and rich) is kidnapped. A message was sent to all the other contestants to help. Either we all respond and all go, or some of us go and the others don't help and we add others into the group. Of course the mods would be most welcome. Just an idea and thought I'd share it.

Oh, if it's a matter of starting it, I am qutie willing to start it up as I already of have an RPG proposition form. Just if we do do this (and I want to hear everyone's thoughts on this idea) we will most likely have to change our names. So, what do you all think? I really would like feedback.

All of that can be voted on. The only person I really see not participating fully (until we rescue her [well, her character that is]) is Lommy because she was the one kidnapped and I am sure there will be those who will not want to paticiapte. So it all depends.

That could be amusing... and interesting! Hmm.. yes. RPs not being in the comfy blanket of Mirth I'm weary to venture into it, but I've got a nice bit of history in role playing (albeit not of the forum variety) I'm in.
Glirdan knows this already, of course.

But first, I must say thi now before we go ahead with this plan. Anybody who has NOT played in an RPG here on the Downs, must, and I mean MUST first go read The Red Book of Westmarch in the Shire and follow everything that has been posted on that thread. Please read carefully and thoroughly so you will understand how RPG's here in the Down's work. Once you have done so, all those who are wishing to play must first inform myself and/or Valesse that you have. I'll be checking to see if you have or not because you must post in the Golden Perch a few times before heading out into an RPG. And seeing as I am posting fairly often as well as checking in on the Golden Perch, I will be able to tell who has followed the directions above. I am also pleased to inform everyone that Valesse has accepted to aid me in making this RPG happen. For all those who are already RPG'ers and wish to play in this game, I will send you the Proposal Form (once Valesse sends it back to me) so you can add your character, which RPG's you've been in and any other input you would like to add to it. Once you are done that, please PM it back to me so I can save it and send it to the other players. But this is for members who have already RPG'ed on this site. I know I'm asking a lot, but it's how the RPG's here work. But I really do hope we can get this going. Valier, I hope you do not mind us using this as a discussion thread until we get the actual one up. If you do, well, we'll use PM's. Thank you for your time everyone.

Do our characters need to visit the Golden Perch? Or is it enough if we've visited the Green Dragon (in my case) or another?

Eomer, you're set to go. If you have visited teh Green Dragon, then you already know what we're looking for. You only need to post in the Golden Perch if you have never done anything in the RPG forums.

Well, it's not necessary and there's no date where I NEED to know. When we have the Discussion thread up and running and you decide to play, just fill out a character description form and you're in.

Sounds fairly interesting Glirdan!! I don't mind if you use this thread till you get yours going. I think perhaps I might play.....I would like to be a player that comes in at a later time though, maybe a secret ally...

I'll play. As I will be most of the time in prison, I don't need to post very frequently, so I can participate. Please sned me the proposal form, Glirdy.
