I believe it is time I posted a picture, or two, or three. Here's me a couple years back at Tolkien's resting place and by one of his favourite trees, and a recent one of me looking solemn with my sword in hand! I apologize - the first two images are a little large. And I don't always frown - that's my picture face, apparently.
Bere by Tolkien's grave Bere standing besides Tolkien's black pine

Wow, nice pictures there and you seem to make quite the knight!
There is however one thing I really MUST know. Where did you get those awesome flags you have in the background? I really have to get me one of those!

Thank you, sir!
The flags were difficult to acquire, I have to say. I got them with perseverance and rather a lot of money. I REALLY wanted them to go with the pine wall I put in - total room Tolkienification. You may have more luck than I finding these flags. I bought them on ebay, from the company in Germany who makes them (flaggen-pehl is the company name, the ebay name was different). You can find these flags/banners on several German and international stores. I didn't order from a store because it was hard to find one that shipped to Canada for a decent rate. The banners themselves are light material, screen-printed. Not thick and embroidered like you might hope. However, if you know what you're getting they are very nice. I see they've made a snazzy new "Boromir" flag. Here's the company that makes them: http://www.flaggen-pehl.de/index.php...048968b6b5d322 P.S. I have to point out that my sword is a real sword.

Very very nice. The only sword I've held is the Citizen Army Training sword, back in high school. A ceremonial sword, thin and light. It's yours, isn't it? Like thosbanners behind you. My I'd give a lot to have something like those.

Yes, it's mine. First medieval sword I'd held, as well. Did my research before buying it though. They're available for anyone to purchase, depending on local laws of course. I feel obligated to say though that anyone considering buying a sharp sword must place safety first. No children can be allowed to handle it or access it. Be extremely careful using it. But I like mine, and I've had fun cutting bottles with it. Having and handling a sword has brought a new perspective to the way I view the medieval ages, and Middle-Earth. It feels more real.

OMG OMG OMG *dies*.
That is an awesome page there, thanks a lot for posting the link. I'll have to see what I can afford and what I want to purchase, probably something Gondorian. The good part is that since I live in Germany I don't expect the costs to be that high for transportation. I actually have a fairly Tolkien-like room myself, also wood everywhere and since I live in the attic and the room is as long as the house it looks a bit like Beorn's hall with beams spanning over the width of the room to support the two sides of the roof. Now all I need are some of those flags...

You're welcome! I can't believe you actually live in Germany - that's perfect. Sounds like a wonderful room you have there too...

Sorry, none of those worked. Must be the link in incorrect, or only accessible to yourself.

Yeah, true indeed, although about 2 hours ago that worked, I'll fix that in a second.
EDIT: works well now, should be no problem.

I had Volo update my pic since the last one not only looks but very remotely like me but also shows me with the long hair I cut off already in July. It was funnier than the new one, though.

Ok, I admit you got me there...
Sometimes I do regret having cut my hair in the first place, but for someone somewhat lazy in the morning as I am it's maybe for the best.

And here I thought I could start a "we lament cutting our long hairs" club.
I still really miss my hair, it's quite a bit of torture for me to see old photos. Anyway, Greenie, somehow that photo makes you look to me more like Lommy's sister than you ever did. Last edited by Lhunardawen; 12-23-2008 at 12:51 PM. |

In a person episode of "Man vs Wild (with child)," me and the Mrs. took the kids hiking. Note that the sweatshirt I'm wearing is older than most of you Downers.

Yes - not even close. Old enough, in fact that I'd wish it would move out already with that sweater that it's been hanging around with.

No. And note that this was not meant to be a 'guess the age' quest, but just to let everyone know that I'm not some 'fashion bullrider,' bustin' the latest trend in the haute style chute.

But perhaps meant to inspire a stampede towards those things old and dear and memorable, filled with enchantment? (speaking of your sweatshirt, not you of course)

A recent picture, to demonstrate that the phantom is not necessarily the only Downer who has worn a tuxedo.
Black and White Colour Look for a related story in The Downer, in an upcoming week! Assuming it's fit to print, of course.

You just wait, boys. One of these days, I'll track down a tux for myself, have it custom-tailored, and I'll make James Bond himself wish he was a girl so he could look so good.

At someone's request, I do have a couple photos to share. Choose whichever one you would like to put on the photo page.
Here is one that is just about 2 years old... And here is one, from a couple months ago (and yes that is the same hat, and I still have that hat) of my 21st celebration. This is one from early in the day, and is one of the few that I have where I am not completely gone...

My Dr. Horrible one? That was a fun time. One of the other guys in the group was Rick Astley, and we ran into Google, Dr. McNinja, and the Flying Spaghetti Monster later that night. It was like instead of a riot, the internet showed up.

I should add a photo to the photo page, then again I might be too paranoid. After all those of you who have facebook can easily view my profile picture.
