Re: the deadline.
I actually have two options as far as the deadline goes. Either 10 PM or 8 AM. I prefer 10 PM because I am a night person. However, since I love you all so much, and it seems I have a lot of people in my game who reside over the sea, I could, I suppose, change it to 8 AM.......... But that's the only other time that's guarunteed to work every day. [whine] My schedule is stupid, and I hate it. I work all different shifts on different days, so while one time might be good for me, say, Monday, on Tuesday it's a bad time, etc. [/whine] So actually we can take a vote, if people want. 10 PM or 8 AM. Sauce and Sleepy's opinions on the Goose noted, as well.

I vote 8 am. Though it won't make much of a difference to me when the deadline is because my voting hours will more or less be the same. But with 8 am I'll have more time to think about my vote.
Also, I like Double Lynchings as well though I don't mind them not being there. Also is there a rule to deal with non-active players?

8am CST works well for me, as it is 2pm GMT and so coincides with the end of my lunchour.
You know, reviewing the awesome list of players, it occurs to me that there's gonna be a whole lot of squawkin' goin' on in this village. Be prepared for information overload!

8 AM works horribly for me. I go to bed at 11 PM and am not online again until about 8 AM. That would give me no time to read over posts (and as Sauce has pointed out, there would be a lot of those), so I would have to vote 9 hours before the deadline, if not earlier. I often don't have time to get online at all after I get off work at 4 PM...14 hours before the deadline.

I agree, though, that the Ducks and the Goose shouldn't know each other (despite having been a Wolf who got lynched because of a bandwagon started by a fellow Wolf and a Cobbler). I've never been in a game with retractable votes and I'd be curious to try them out, but either way is okay.

Okies....
I will be able to post for 30-45 minutes 6-7am CST (UK lunchtime) and between noon amd 3pmCST approximately (UK evening) weekdays and at least daily at weekends (variable times). During these times you will have as much participation and discussion as I can muster. I will vote as best I can according to the state of play at the time I leave. If this is acceptable to the Mod, please regard me as a definite. If this is an unacceptable level of involvement, I understand and will bow out wishing the game well.

Well bringing it forward a few hours won't make any difference to me save that my vote will be a little less premature, and having modded twice (asserting the divine right of moderators ) , I think you should do what suits you best and let everyone else work around it. It is a harder job than you expect and as the wise Envinyatar says in his sig - you will labour in vain if you attempt to please everyone.

Consider how long you think it will take you to write a death, in case the daily lynch isn't whom you expect.

If the deadline is 2pm GMT I will have to vote extremely early most days. As in about midnight the day before. The 4am GMT deadline would work a lot better for me I think as I can vote much closer to the deadline.
But if it's easier for you Diamond I'm ok with 8am.

One good reason not to have retractable votes, methinks. (I'm leaning toward non-retractable. Much as a I appreciated them in Mith's game, I think non will be more mod friendly.)
A good death scene would probably take me 40 minutes to write. I type like the wind. So assuming my brain is working....

Definitely 8AM, if one can have a vote for it. (10PM would be here in Finland something like 6AM: so if I would like to catch up with the writing of this bunch, I would have to wake up at 4AM the latest - and then stay awake the whole day.) Well. If the game is good, one might think about it...
Retractable votes have their pro's and con's. They can be misused, surely, but they also make it possible for everyone to vote with thought in the end. F.ex. in Farael's game right now, there have been occasions, where someone has had to vote early, because s/he has not been sure, whether s/he's able to come back - and not voting is bad sport anyhow. Then it's nasty to hang around the game at the last minutes (as it has turned out possible to be there) and see, how differently - with additional information - one would have voted.

Oh and I'm not a fan of retractable votes. I'm a P not a J, but not that heavily P that I can deal with such fluidity...(for further explanation see my enneagrams thread...)

Well I am generally a fan of retractable votes but since I am going to have to vote early and certainly won't be able to pop back, it doesn't make any odds to me in this game.

Well I would totally vote for the 10pm time. I am NOT a morning person and 8 in the morning is awfully early for me to get up and have a coherent vote/reasoning. But if the majority rules, that's ok I guess..... Perhaps we should have retractable votes for the people who might be able to sneak on before the deadline.

If I were to allow retractables I would definitely put a cap of one-change-of-mind-per-person on it. I think they're best used for when you're not sure if you'll be able to be around for the deadline or not, so you want to get an early vote in to be safe but can still change your mind if you do manage to get on later. That's mainly what I liked about them as a player.
However, if I allowed retractables it'd be for everyone, not just those with deadline difficulty. So I wouldn't expect a reason to have to be given.

I can do either, really, as I'm on EST time, but that would be 9AM for me, so I'd be missing most of the day's end, and depending on my schedule I might have to miss that entirely too. The 10 pm would be a lot easier for me to make, since I'm almost always on at that time.
++ 10 PM

As a Continental European, I have to vote 8AM. I'd not be able to vote close to the deadline every day, due to classes and all, but it would be a lot better than 5AM (for me).
Though I am a morning person, I am not that much of a morning person really. But if majority says 10PM, I would obviously be dedicated enough. I do not think this game needs retractable votes to be dynamic, considering the wonderful line up. Very much looking forward to it already. |

Stuff to announnce
Re: time zones
In favor of 8 AM: Sauce Sleepy Lalaith Nogrod Cailín In favor of 10 PM: Jenny Kath Valier Roa Lote Nilp Glirdan No preference: Spawn Mithalwen So everyone but Elu and Morm have "weighed in" so to speak. It looks like 10 PM has a slight lead. This will probably be the deadline, then, unless Elu and Morm both want 8 AM, in which case it will be a tie, and it will... probably be 10 PM because that was my preference. So, er, it will be 10 PM. Deadline will be 10 PM Sorry for any inconveinences this causes, it looks like some will just have to vote early. About half the village will be put out either way. But this whole mini game of survivor featuring the deadlines was fun for me, thanks. I have also decided that there will be NO retractable votes. With retractables there seems to be a flurry of last minute activity right up at the deadline, which can swing the lynch in a totally different direction than expected in the hours leading up. I feel this would be unfair to those players who definitely cannot be present at the deadline. So, it's 10 PM CST DST No retractable votes Two days without voting results in a death, unless you get on your knees and beg really really hard whilst I grin with a self-satisified evil air, and... uh... right. If the only thing you do is vote for two days running, same result, unless there's a really good reason. Okay, next line of business from the extemely talkative moddess who has nothing better to do right now because she was killed but no she isn't bitter, not bitter at all: LMP thought he might be able to play but couldn't fit it into his schedule, so there are now 17 players. Nogrod is the only questionable left -- this is dependent on his survival in Farael's game. So there's room for one or two more players if anyone wants to sign up. But even if we start with only 16 that should be okay.

I just looked at the calendar and noticed, that when the first DAY-phase starts in your game, there will be just four villagers left in Farael's game (without more ranger saves). So it's just a day or at most two away from ending - and can be at an end already then. And when it's a NIGHT there, it will be a DAY here, and vice versa (an overlap of just a couple of hours). Of the deadline: I'll just have to learn new habits and wake up early... And if I don't vote one day, I hope you believe, that I just haven't managed to wake up...

I haven't weighed in actually...but I don't mind. I'd vote in the minority. Oh well, early voting for Papageno...
Very glad to see the Nightingale included. I think it would be best for the Goose not to know the Ducks. A Goose by definition shouldn't know anything of use! Perhaps the Ducks could indeed know the Goose...

Oh dear. If Farael's game doesn't end soon, I'll be in the same position as Nogrod. I had figured we'd be further along by now. Oh, well.

I suppose I could move my game up by a day or two. Start the Night on Sunday and the Day on Monday. I'll see Saturday.
