Today I saw a commercial on The History Channel for the edition that I posted above. It is called Rivendell and looks like it might be some sort of gated community. The footage was very pretty.

jeez! one more reason that where I live is boring. All of our streets are trees or just where they are. I live on 2nd, west lake, and elm.
Oh well

I do also keep telling my friend who'se obsessed with star wars that George took many things from Tolkien. She doesn't believe me.
I think it would be soooooo cool to live on a street named like that. What would be even better, though, would be if a whole town was. Actually, there are! (i have to stop talking to myself) My grandfather used to work on a farm near Underhill, Vermont. And there is a Buckland in Quebec, Canada and somewhere in Australia.

I wanna Live on a LOTR street. I wish I could rename mine. Well, many of us could say we live on a street that's name was in the LOTR.

Yay! I found one! A street near my Star Wars-loving friend's house (eerie coincidence) is called ITHILIEN! yippee!
Not yay! I just looked in the phonebook to find that two evil LotR and me-hating evil evil evil people live in/on Ithilien!!! Probably got in by disguising their hideous orc-shapes with masks and cloaks, or black robes on black horses.............

There is a slightly obscured and unpaved road near the southwestern side of Mt. Hood called Greenleaf. I saw it while driving up there.

Update- I am going to the section of San Jose where all the streets are LOTR themed this Sunday. I will bring my digital camera and will email the pix to the Barrow Wight and see if he will allow them to be posted in some way.

Here are some of the streets in San Jose, CA where the theme is LOTR!
STREETS! Many thanks to the Barrow Wight for posting them so quickly. There are several more streets I didn't get pictures of (people were looking at me funny) so I will go back soon. I missed Bilbo Ct., Shadowfax Dr., and some others. [ August 19, 2002: Message edited by: Lhunbelethiel ]

Cool! I live close to San Jose myself. In fact, my aunt from my mother's side lives there. I've never heard of the streets named after LOTR, though.

Wow! Those are great! I didn't realize that the "Barrowdowns Way"
one was an actual street sign, I thought it was some computer generated thing! ~Samwise, who lives in the "President" section of Petaluma, CA.... Quote:

Yeah, Barrow Downs Way is in a neighborhood in South Houston (near the old Ellington AFB). No other Tolkien names in the area, but there are a bunch of English sounding street names nearby (i.e. Wessex, Kensington, etc...). No Middle Earth names in my neighborhood

About two miles from my home is a street named Tolkien Way.
I was disapointed to learn that it's not named after JRRT. It's named for his son, Father John Tolkien, who spent most of his working life as a priest and teacher in my area. |

Actually, Selmo, I think there is something quite fitting and proper about Tolkien Way being named for Father John Tolkien. And I am willing to bet that even JRR would bow to it. An honour for Sam rather than Frodo?

My town like so many others, has no LOTR street names, but we do have a Greenleaf Cemetary. I also went to high school with a Micheal Delving.

A little off topic, but there's a person who lives somewhere near me that has a lisence plate that says "FRODO." I think I'll get one that says HOBBIT or something like that.

Daycares??? Aw, that's not fair. The Preschool/Daycare I work at has a boring name: "Petaluma Child Development Center".
Hm. Sam and Rose could've started their own daycare...hehe..."Gamgees Garden of Children". (kindergarten? Hm...) And we'd have it on Cotton ROAD!!

They're rather cute actually. Bo Baggins has a statue of Bilbo outside the front door! There's another daycare from the same lady called "bippity boppity". I was told that all of her daycares have to do with LOTR. But I'm not sure where that one fits in

Isn't there a Brandywine river in NJ(?). however, Brandywine is but a translation of Baranduin. Sorry.
