Interesting question. Do you mean are they legal? Or is it a more metaphysical type of approval that you seek? My guess is that since it seems they did something similar last year, it must be legal or they'd have been sued into oblivion by now.

This is legal too, but totally unnecessary for my well being and peace of mind.
 Apparently, the selling point for those particular items is that they're "fused with Tolkien-y goodness", whatever that means. The only thing that would come close to making them worth my while is the original illustrations.
