Lord of the Rings: War of the Ring
Has anyone hear do this new game from Liquid Entertainment? Gamespot features a new, full, review of it here, with Screenshots. It seems to have been in development for a while so far (though, I hadn't even heard of it until today).
Basically, you can go through two campaigns, controlling the "good forces" and the "bad forces." The Campaigns are non-linear (which bothers me a bit, but I'll keep an open mind). From the screenshots, it appears to look a lot like Warcraft 3 instead of what I would considerate more appropriate, Age of Empires. (In fact, for half a second I thought it was simply an extensive W3 mod). And you'll notice that in one of the recently released screenshots, there appears to be a Balrog (with wings, by the way). I doubt extensive research went into building the story line. (Although, with all fairness, controlling a mass of Balrogs seems terribly awesome). [ September 18, 2003: Message edited by: Beren87 ] |

I'm pretty excited about the release of the game myself too. I had first heard about it when reading one of my friends gaming mags a while ago an it seemed to be coming along quite nicely, despite Beren's pointed out disappointments. But, in all fairness, what more can you ask for? I'm gonna get to conquer Middle Earth!

YAY! Finally a LotR game where you can be EVIL! Pitty it will never work on my pc/pitty I have no games consoles. The graphics are ever improving, yet they can never quite get the plot right...

I can't wait for it either, but I think that the colors are a little to unnatural(for lack of a better word.) I think that it should look a little more like Age of Empires II.

It's already in shops!
Just look for "Warcraft III", and you'll have bought it!!! ... Don't get me worng, I would LOVE a TOlkein RTS. But this si just a Warcraft III CLONE with Middle-earth names...and wierd thigns like giant catapults in the Iron Hills mysteriously forgotten about...and an art style which completes the Warcraft III clonage. THere is another RTS based on the films, Battle for Middle-earth. It looks nice. Certainyl no clone. I just hope it doesn't play like 99% of everything else out there.
