I'm sure a lot of the opinions posted on this topic would offend the writers of the original parodies. Non-acceptance is a double-edged sword people. |

I think we're beating a dead horse here, though. We've gotten to the agreement that people have different opinions, different personalities, so they're going to have a different kind of sense of humor. And they might view being offended (or just being irked) by things that bash something they love in a comical way not having the faintest connection with their sense of humor. And they might not see it as a comical way. Lots of and's there... |

Just a quick objection to this thread's impassioned title: ignorance is BLISS.
Tasteless humour has its place too. Most of that place is contained within my dorm room, but it spills out on its good days. Forgive the parodies, there are worse things out there that demand our attention, such as: WHY WON'T THEY GIVE US VIGGO'S PHONE NUMBER?

But Money buys happiness! Yet Money is the root of all evil! That's right folks, happiness is the root of all evil. Now where has this gotten us? Absolutely nowhere except that perhaps some of us learned that other people can have an opinion of their own. So as Durelin said, "We're beating a dead horse here." And quite frankly, a dead horse is pretty messy. So please, don't kick the horse. |

Beren, your premises and logic are pathetic and incorrect.
But I agree that we should stop this, as we've done all we're going to do about it. ~ Elentari II

No more Tolkien-related discussion here? Then it's time to close this thread.
