Gorthaur the Cruel has just left Hobbiton.
White Tree Luthien's resurrection

I've always wondered if Luthien lost her maian powers (though retaining her beauty) after her resurrection. Afterall, she chose to become a mortal, so all the magicks must've been removed by the Powers, right? Also, Dior was born only after the resurrection, which would mean that there's really no maian blood in Elrond... right?

Luthien was powerful, yes, but what are "maian powers"? There were lots of different Maiar with lots of different personalities and proficiencies. I think the question reflects a misunderstanding of power in Tolkien, which is why I was being difficult. Any thread that contains the phrase "all the magicks" should be moved to the novices forum, if not deleted.
