I don't think there's 5 characters I hate, only a few including: Arwen!!!!! She's so annoying and I hate how Aragorn loves her. He should like Eowyn, she's much better.
Celegorm, one of Feanor's sons because he's so nasty.

Ugh! I knew I forgot some people:
Arwen- Same reason as everyone else Fëanor and all his ****ing sons- I didn't know elves could be evil till we met them Mim- the coward! He gives dwarves a bad name Ar-Pharazon- Evil, corruptable, and he marries his sister That should be it. I know it totals over five but I hate them all equally.

The characters that I dislike are not those who are good and not those who are evil, but those who fall somewhere between. The characters that really irritate me are those that seem to have quite a bit going for them, if they could only see, but who end up acting in a bad way for reasons which I find either rather silly or just plain mystifying. So my list is as follows:
1. Saeros (whoever said stupid racist Elf, I agree) 2. Erendis (for goodness, sake she knew what she was getting into when she married the guy) 3. Denethor (he may have decided that there was no hope for himself, but what gave him the right to try to take his son with him?) 4. Eol (I couldn't really understand what his problem was) 5. Maeglin (son of his father)

5 worst characters... how about I list the five most frustrating characters? The thing I find most frustrating, is the refusal to repent, even when the chance is clear. WIth that in mind:
Denethor, for obvious reasons Gollum; he came so close that day in the tunnel, and poor Sam didn't know the damage he did; poor Smeagol... Saruman's refusal to repent when Gandalf offered him the chance on the steps of Orthanc; and likewise his refusal to repent during his confrontation with Frodo Feanor; I really like him as a craftsman and artist; even Gandalf wanted to watch him at work; and his warring and stiffnecked attitude makes me sad Thingol's stubborn attitude towards Beren and Luthien, and his refusal to listen to Melian's advice and her warning. In The Hobbit, all those stubborn kings who let the greed get to them--Thorin, Thranduil, Bard... twinkies all. I never understood it when I was younger, but Galadriel's passing the test means more and more to me as the years go by. I love Boromir's repentance.

Anyway, although I feel like just saying "All the terrible good guys", I'll try to make a list. From the books: 1. Sam 2. Frodo 3. Mim (he tried to kill my Beleg ) 4. Finduilas (poor Gwindor has lost everything, so let's rip his heart out and stomp on it now we're at it!) 5. Morwen Eledhwen (had she been less selfish and taken care of her own son, he would've turned out differently! And he would've known his own sister...)

As for the topic at hand... err, I dunno, none of the characters really annoyed me or anything... but if I had to choose... 1. Ruffian #1 2. Ruffian #2 3. Ruffian #3 4. Ruffian #4 5. Ruffian #5 Grr. No one messes with hobbits! Scouring of the Shire was a great chapter, just so very depressing at first... I mean, it's the Shire! Bad things shouldn't happen there, and yet they do! Oh yeah, and Mîm. The guy gives Dwarves a bad name.

Aside from Morgoth, Sauron, and Saruman who are too obvious, I despise Ungoliant (any being who would suck in light and spew out darkness is hideous), Feanor (for a wise Elf, he fell prey to sweet words too easily, and I can never forgive him the Kinslaying!), Gorthang (that is the name of the Worm who cursed Turin and Nienor, isn't it?), Maeglin (that an Elf would betray the fair city of Gondolin for a little personal grudge is despicable), and Denethor (I pity him, but he was arrogant and a fool, he tried to kill his son, and he put unfair, unfatherly pressure on both his sons and, in my opinion, came close to ruining their lives).

Feanor- I didn't get why he had to rebel. I'd dig it if he went against something that was too legalistic, or too stressfull or something.
Manwe- he's too grumpy for me, and IMHO, seems a bit cold towards Yavanna Saruman- he blew his entire career Grima Wormtongue- useless free loader Gollum- he lied, (the only reason why I don't like him)

*gasp!* How can so many of you hate on SAM?! Oh well, here's my list, in no particular order:
[*]Arwen: You know why[*]Gollum:: Don't be fooled by the flashy computer graphics and pitiful Sméagol, people! That thing is evil through and through![*]Shelob: She freaks me out. And I just don't like spiders. Especially giant ones that would see me as a nice meal.[*]Movie Galadriel: I don't really know why, but she annoys the h3ll outta me.[*]The Ring: Does that count? I mean, it seems to have a mind, voice, personality, and evilness of its own. What more does it need to be considered alive?

No real order.
Arwen Tom Bombadil Gimli son of Gloin Radgast The Brown - Not sure on the spelling. I didn't feel like he was developed enough. Oh well my Simarlillion came yesterday so perhaps he will be in there. Galadriel - Especially in the movie, but I didn't like her much in the books either.

Oh how can I forget the Sackville-Bagginses!
Sam? there are those that hate Sam? Well, I have to admit to myself that I am a bit annoyed at people that belong to Sam's social stature (uh-huh, now you know where I'm coming from), but thinking about that some more, I can't afford to be annoyed at anyone...I can't judge... *ducks*....this belongs to another thread!

Don't be down on Feanor just because he fulfilled his destiny.
If you think I'm crazy for saying that, please read the extremely informative and interesting thread I've given a link for down below (and make sure you read all of it, or you won't completely understand what I mean, it has to do with fate). http://forum.barrowdowns.com/cgi-bin...c&f=1&t=003009

Hmm lets see...I dont really hate these characters they just got really annoying at times.
1. Frodo in RotK - he got annoying pretty fast 2. Arwen 3. Lobelia Sackville Baggins 4. Ghan-Buri-Ghan 5. Aragorn - dont get me wrong Aragorn is one of my favorite characters but I got tired of him repeating that he was royalty and soon to be king.

ambi, I don't think it was wise to mention Denethor on that list when Meela is around! She'll set the Guards of Gondor on you!

*Laughs* Everyone is saying that Its great that so many people have picked up on my weird obsession... okay, so maybe I would prefer it if you all picked on a good point... but weird will do!
You can mention Denethor if you want, I think he's weird too. I won't kill you... yet :P

Oh i cringe when i see Gandalf's name on the lists! I believe in opinions but its GANDALF for hecks sake! He saved the world!
But here goes my list 1. Galadriel(Way too boring and high and mighty) 2. Bergil (like someone said earlier "I just dont like the boy" 3. Aragorn as King. (I LOVE Strider but when he becomes king he is way too stuck on himself. He isnt the fun guy who hunts orcs and tramps through the wild. Now he is just a snobby old dotard) 4. Treebeard (Nice guy but too slow. Yes i know thats the point but its a thick part to get through in the books.) 5. Bombadil (What kind of useless scum is this guy? People are dying and fighting everyday and he simply stays home and hops on the hill tops in the moonlight! And the Ring doesnt even have any power over him for hecks sake!)
