Sting Nenya and Vilya

I was pondering this as I was searching for a Narya and a Vilya replica online, and I'd like to know everyone's opinion.

Galadriel had the Ring of Water, and Elrond the Ring of Air. Don't you think it should be the other way around? I mean, Elrond controlled the Bruinen, and Caras Galadhron was hidden by illusions, I.E. Air magic. Any thoughts everyone?

Well, what about Galadriel's mirror, the Phial, which is filled with water from her fountain, the mist which she sends to cover the progress of Eorl to aid Cirion?
Elrond's relationship to 'air' isn't as obvious to me (Nor Cirdan's with Fire, for that matter!)

Maybe Elrond's relationship with air has got to do with his father Earendil. I mean he is sailing amongst the stars somewhere, that's gotta have some connection.

Well Tinuviel, you snatched the words straight out of my mouth. I think there is a connection between the son of Earendil and the Ring of Air. And just because it is the Ring of Air dosen't mean you cannot control part of a river with it. Besides, where does it say the flooding of the Brueinen has anything to do with a ring of power? I mean, maybe being 1/16 Maia has its advanteges.

And you can partially thank Gil-Galad for the reason Elrond has Vilya. He was its keeper initially, but he gave it to Elrond sometome before he died (hmmmm maybe he has the gift of foresight as well).

Hmm, I see your points everyone, and the mirrior and phial, and Elendil points are good, but to answer the ford flooding question:

Well, the river is water, and I figured the ring of water would give him greater power. Thanks for your imput guys.

But Elrond DID NOT have the ring of water. He had the ring of air. Galadriel had Nenya, Ring of Adamant and Ring of Water...

Possibly long distance aid from her mother in law, the Lady of Light?

What is more likely is that Vilya and Nenya did not grant Elrond and Galadriel the ability to 'control' water or mist or air etc. At most the Rings simply enhanced the _natural_ ability of two already powerful beings to do that.
