Sting Aragorn and Galadriel

I was just pondering this.... in the movie FOTR, during the farewell to Lorien, Galadriel say that "we shall not meet again, elessar". Im just curious as to why they would add the rest of the quote, which says otherwise in the book. "For darkness will flow between us, and it may be that we shall not meet again, unless it be far hence upon a road that has no returning." Obviously, that is the meeting of Celeborn, galadriel, and elrond at Gondor for the wedding of Elessar and Arwen. (also, their road to the havens, hence the "no returning") I just wonder why they would not include that quote, because that suggest to me that they are not going to use that in the ROTK movie. If he and Arwen marry, how are they going to explain galadriel and celeborn being present? this is not a topic for great discussion, and will probably be closed down, but I was just curious as to what other people think.

I have often wondered about that quote too, and I think the only reasionable explanation in PJ plans to leave Galadriel and Celeborn out of ROTK, at least in that scene, which would be very disapointing. But hey, look what they did to Eomer.
Namarie

I think what Galadriel meant was they would not meet as friends again. At their next meeting, Galadriel would merely be a visiting dignitary and the grandmother of the bride, not one of Aragorn's mentors. Aragorn would be the groom and the King of Gondor and Arnor, not the Ranger who sought for Galadriel's guidance. So in that sense, they would not meet again in Middle-earth, for their friendship and relationship and mentor/pupil had ended with Aragorn's assumption of the throne.

I think that Peter Jackson was mainly simplifying the quote from the book. It either means that Galadriel will not be at Aragorn's and Arwen's wedding, or that Peter forgot about that detail when he wrote that part of the script. If it's the latter, he's going to look a bit stupid. Unless he has Galadriel say something like 'okay, that comment is valid from *now*...'

I have wondered also about it. Tisk Tisk. Cuttting corners in lines can be awful. But when you think about it only the diehard movie fans that have the extended version and us book fans will notice the mistake if she is at the wedding. PJ could care less about us, it is the critics and general audiance he wants to impress.

This thread has more to do with the movies than the book, so I'm moving it to the Movies forum. Please continue the discussion there.

I think they have a lot of those quotes were book-readers are thinking "Oh really!?" Like Galadriel telling elrond from afar in TTT that the quest will claim Frodo's life, etc. In other words I really have no idea & am just trying to make a little bit of sense on my 300th post. Oh, well.
