Meriadoc1961 has just left Hobbiton.
The Flooding of the Bruinen

I began watching the movies again this week, and I believe I may have spotted a bit of detail that Jackson and co. got right when making the movie, but one I had always imagined wrong every time I read the book, and that is the direction the flood waters come from when they flood the ford of Bruinen. I had always pictured the water coming from Frodo's left when I read the books, but in the movie they come from Arwen's and Frodo's right. This should be the correct direction since the Hobbits were travelling from the west heading east towards Rivendell. Therefore, the waters would have been following a north to south direction on Arwen's and Frodo's right as they turned and faced the Nazgul behind them to the west. So this is a case where even after reading the books for 35 times, I never got it right in my head. Had Jackson NOT made the film, I may never have corrected this error, as trivial as it may seem, for all of my life.

Merry
