Pipe Tolkein inspired?

Ever since I've been getting into LOTR, I've been seeing allusions to it everywhere.
Anybody ever play Zelda: Ocarina of Time? The main character, Link, is an elvish looking kid who has a bow, pointy ears, and wears a green tunic. There's a big fiery, smoking mountain you have to climb, and another characters name is Ganondorf, and although he's a bad guy, it sounds alot like Gandalf. And at the end you have to fight this thing that looks alot like a Balrog. And there's a gigantic spider in there too. Anybody else seen other examples of Tolein in the world or am I just crazy? (I'm really sorry I'm rambling)
