The Hobbits by Gilthalion

Gilthalion joined the Barrow-Downs in early 2001 and was a significant earlier contributor, not only in terms of his thoughtful posts, but also in connection with the drafting of themes and content linked to our splash page. He became an administrator here and helped with management of the forums for many years. Unfortunately, he has not appeared here since about 2007.

One of his significant contributions was a work of fan fiction, The Hobbits. Excluding RPGs that were reformatted and posted on our old Fan Fiction Forum, The Hobbits was the longest work ever contributed. As the title implies, Gilthalion truly enjoyed the Hobbit members of the Fellowship, and the Shire. The Hobbits is, chronologically, a sequel to LoTR, focusing upon, of course, Hobbits and their later adventures. It could be considered to be LoTR, the next generation.

Thanks to Huinesoron, who assisted in retrieving and formatting this (massive) story. Due to its significant length, I will post it a few chapters at a time. This is appropriate as Gilthalion originally serialized it on the Barrow-Downs in the same way, posting chapters as he wrote them.

Enjoy!
