This is the "fish" riddle, Lady_Bain.

Several pages ago, someone asked this one. I found it in my book and didn't have a corresponding answer for it, so I posted it asking for the answer. I then asked Sam if she was the one who posted it originally, but she told me it wasn't her's, but Greenbow's. Hope this helps! [img]smilies/smile.gif[/img]

What animal is that which in the morning goes on four feet, at noon on two, and in the evening upon three?
slightly odd i know but see if you can get it

Surely
At night, one builds up sticks and other pieces of wood to build the fire. In the morning, the wood is all burned away, leaving nothing in its place but ash. It's simply a different use of the word "dressed" Substitute "built" and it'll work too.

I also would have accepted "a rose"(or other flower) because at night it closes over its delicate inner parts and in the morning opens again, exposing itself to the sunlight.

Susan - this is probably out of left field but is the answer a witch? (If I remember correctly witches weren't supposed to be able to cast shadows. Or be photographed, for that matter).
