Oh, I didn't know that was what you meant
Though precious it looks, a shiny stone, (Its scales are shiny) It was not born in the earth. (It was born in water) It speaks all day, but no sound is heard, (It opens and closes its mouth all the time) And no matter how far it goes, It will always end up in the same place. (It can never leave its bowl or tank) Is this better? [ April 17, 2002: Message edited by: Susan Delgado ]

Anyamiex, yours is man, who when young crawls on all fours, walks on two during the prime of his life, and uses a cane when he is old.
Susan, is yours a window?

Surely
At night, one builds up sticks and other pieces of wood to build the fire. In the morning, the wood is all burned away, leaving nothing in its place but ash. It's simply a different use of the word "dressed" Substitute "built" and it'll work too. I also would have accepted "a rose"(or other flower) because at night it closes over its delicate inner parts and in the morning opens again, exposing itself to the sunlight.

To Susan, Thankee-sai, you speak true, the answer is indeed Breath.
as for Quote:
Cannot be seen, cannot be felt, Cannot be heard, cannot be smelt. It lies behind the stars and beneath the hills. Ends life and kills laughter. What is it? And NO Susan, your not answering it! F.G. [ April 18, 2002: Message edited by: Firladion Greenbow ]

That is correct Lindolirian, the dark it is.
With no wings, I fly. With no eyes, I see. With no arms, I climb. More frightening than any beast, stronger than any foe. I am cunning, ruthless, and tall; in the end, I rule all. What am I? F.G.

Hello, everyone! This thread has certainly grown since last time I was here...
Susan - this is probably out of left field but is the answer a witch? (If I remember correctly witches weren't supposed to be able to cast shadows. Or be photographed, for that matter). Samwise - Is yours illness? It certainly grabs you quickly, anyway...
