1420! Moria's many outcomes

Lately, I cannot help pondering what would have happened if Gandalf had destroyed the Balrog without falling down the chasm with it, and had lead the Fellowship the rest of the way out of Moria.
Think what would have happened to Helm's Deep, then Edoras, then Gondor, then the rest of the free lands, not to mention the Fellowship itself.
How ironic that a victory in Moria for the good guys would most likely eventually have spelled doom for Middle-Earth!
