Admin thread for WWJ VI "Return to Midsomer Mawlin: Kill me again"
This will be a back to basics game similar to the original Werewolf game moderated by the Barrow Wight himself oh so long ago.
Ideally there will be 13 players. 11 or 15 are possible depending on demand. There will be 3 wolves and 1 Seer and NO OTHER GIFTEDS. The Seer will be permitted to dream on the first night. There will be retractable votes. However if at any point during a DAY there is a true majority, votes will stand. I will take in to account however the wishes of the players when deciding on double lynchings. Days and nights will end probably at 6pm GMT I hope to make a start soon. Possibly on Sunday evening but that will depend on how many takers we get. I will post full rules in due course but due to recent shenanigans Please read and note the following: I have neither the time or the energy to draw up legislation that would govern the machinations of minds more devious than my own. The wolves may PM by night. Any player may PM me. Othewise all other discussion should be on the open thread and be open. Any form of code or private communication I regard as unacceptable particularly in a "junior" game. I will stop the game if I feel it has been compromised. Being a mod is a lot of work and I am starting a new assignment next week (sorting out NHS budgets - if I get through that I guess it will be on to ending world poverty and making world peace ) . Anyway, while I have been waiting a long time to mod again and have lots of ideas for the game, I do not want extra stress. So be nice children!!!! Before you sign up please think if you will be available for the expected duration of the game. With such a small number of players it should be a short game but it is therefore vital that all players are involved. Obviously some things are unexpected but if you know you have exams, are going away or will be otherwise unavailable in the next fortnight PLEASE DO NOT SIGN UP. You do not need an "occupation" . I am going to amuse myself with fictional detectives/investigators again. If you have a preference PM me do not post on the thread.... I think that : Boromir88 JennyHallu Sleepy Ranger are playing.... I had thought Eomer was but he may have overcommitted If they have changed their mind can they let me know. Otherwise please sign up below indicating a preference re double lynchings.

I suppose I can follow the rules:
Lemme in, lemme in! I'm going through manipulation withdrawal. And I'm cool with double lynching. |

I'm going to go against double-lynching. With a low amount of players the game is bound to go fast already, d-l will speed it up more, and we certainly don't want that now do we?

I would like to play.
I just recently read over The Barrow-Wight-modded original game and thought it looked like a lot of fun, but have been hesitant to sign up for the other games which have become more complicated. I'm assuming a double lynching is when the villager vote is tied between two players and both are excuted? I have no problem with that. Anything that might be different from the original game, let me know, that's all I've read.

Rats.
A perfectly simple, back to the basics, completely dictatorial game... And I'm commited to Nilp's. Even if it wasn't discourteous or unchivalrous to partake in two games simultaneously, I fear that my brain should overload were I to try. Such a pity... Ah well, I'll be watching. Meanwhile, I back off to the zany land of Ened-in-Nowhere.

I have thought of taking a break with WW, as I will be having considerably more RL work in the couple of weeks to come. Then again this idea of a vintage game quite inspires.
Maybe we do as follows: if you have lots of people joining, I'll stay out. If you have trouble to get enough people to play (there's quite a large game starting at TiG), I'll join in. That's allright, Mith? PS. If I join, I'll be posting somewhat less than in the earlier games. With my flood-posting, it might be more good than bad... PS2. Double lynching basically ok., but it's a small game, so I'm not sure. Anything goes.

I'm afraid I may not be able to play due to certain circumstances but theres a good chance everything will clear up by this Monday so I'll have to be put on the 'Possiblities' list for the time being. Sorry.

Count me in. I don't want to miss Mith's game. I'm good with double lynchings but I ask you Mith about the retractable votes. I'm okay with them but I remember in your first modding you became exasperated with the amount of retracting

It wasn't the retracting it was certain people *cough* confusing me ...... As for double lynchings...... I am still cogitating.... it is a very small game and I don't want to lynch say on day one 2 people who maybe have only 2-3 votes each. Conversely it would be difficult to refuse a double lynching if two people got 6 votes each ... I may set a high threshold for a double lynch and have a tiebreaker for lower ties..... Retractable votes will happen...they make things more interesting and with no hunter/guardian may redress the balance for villagers.

Thinking about getting recruits for this game. Should you, Mith, put "an add" to the TiGJ thread to announce this game once more? You started this thread so early, that some people might not find this one, and just be waiting for the next game be announced at the WWJ -thread (people seem to be lazy to go one or two pages back to find the information they are searching for...).
Which brings me to my other question. What is the title of that renonwned first game? I'd like to see, what was it like, but have no idea, how to search for it (and no time to start searching actively )

And basically I just wrote something here to make this thread appear at the top of the "active threads"-list. We need a couple of players more. I already took the liberty of mentioning this game at the "New members introduce yourselves"- thread. Let's hope we will have the players and get going... (As you see Mith, I seem to be already in... )

Thanks that is great - I really appreciate the support in the face of the competition from the big game on the other thread - unfortunate timing ..
I hope we do get the last few players soon. Obviously we won't be starting today ..... It would help if you could PM me with your investigator of choice..... otherwise you will have ot put up with whatever characterisation I give you

I'll prefer to be at your mercy too, Mith.
And fellow-villagers (especially those who have played with me earlier): don't lynch me just because I will be playing a bit differently this time. Just won't have time to flood your posts in this one...

Well you could have got TGWBS's Baldric award for the fatally flawed cunning plan in a recent WWJ game

I'd like to sign up as well. This looks like an excellent group of players.
However, it depends somewhat on how soon it starts. I have plenty of time up until my spring break starts on Fri. 24th. I'm not sure if that would work or not. Last edited by Firefoot; 03-12-2006 at 02:22 PM. |

Firefoot - I am delighted to have you back!!! This is going to be such an interesting game to moderate. I am delighted to have so many interesting and experienced players but I would flag up that Diamond is a new player and since this is a Junior game, that should be remembered. I am not saying don't vote for her - just remember that she is a learner....
Updated Players list Boromir88 Jenny Hallu Feanor of the Peredhil Kitanna Diamond18 Mormegil Nogrod Sleepy Ranger Gil-galad Firefoot

It wasn't personal!!! Just that this looks like being a top level game and Diamond may end up being the only true beginner. I am not saying don't lynch her, just remeber that she hasn't the benefit of experience so lynch her for the right reasons!!!
Anyway I am off now. If we get recruits overnight I should send out roles tomorrow and hope to get going proper the next day. Again - thank you all for your commitment to this game.

I'm not afraid of death....
All I ask is a fair chance and a gory demise. Melodramatic, even.
At any rate, today is the last halcyon day of my weekend vacation from work, and next week will find me working every day right through Saturday. However I will find time to come here every day, though I may not have as many consecutive hours in which to obsess. This will benefit my sanity and little else.
