Arry has just left Hobbiton.
The two normally light-hearted Elven brothers have become a bit suspicious over recent events.

They are readying their weapons, and being old warriors will not hesitate to blood them as needed . . .

I've filled in my save.... The Corsairs have returned to the ship and Marreth has flashed his lantern three times to alert the mysterious visitor.....

Sorry for the long time no posting. I do believe and hope all my problems with my not having a PC and being sick is over. I think, know, I'll have more access now.

Best wishes to you all,

I hope my latest post works, sorry I could not write sooner.

Arry - If you like, bring Freyn in on your suspicions. He is the type for them, and I'm afraid I'm struggling on what to have him do....but only if you want to

Hello

I'm sorry about my absence. I've been quite busy with other (boring) things lately. I promise to fill my two saves tomorrow. (I can't promise to keep my promise though....Nah, I'm only joking.)

Thanks for your patience,

I had a mess of work and did not get to fill in my save. I put up a new one. One way or another, I will get to it tomorrow.

Greetings everyone,

I’m going on a lovely camping trip this weekend and will not be on until Sunday. I have asked Arry to carry my character through for me. I’ll fill in my save and have a post up by Sunday.

Enjoy your weekend

Thumbs up

Kitanna, Oro,

Please check your pms.

*************************

I've told the plans to the Corsair crew that we're leaving in the morning and have plans to dig ice holes. I've also put up a save that will get us out on the road quite soon. In order to speed up the action, I will do this as a time condense post. I'll say we've hiked the whole day with no particular problems and arrived at the spot marked on the map.

At that point, could all the baddies do posts where they start digging the holes for the next two days (game time).? Remember that Luindal and crew haven't arrived yet. They will be coming shortly....

Thanks Oro! I've filled in my save too. The next baddie to post can make it morning if you want and begin hacking the holes in the ice. Be careful now or someone might fall in!

I wasn't sure what you meant by drilling holes, so I just had Jarlyn and Jynn chopping at it with a hammer. Is that all right with you?

Checked PMs...sent a response...

Elves and other good guys -

Please look at my save #95 which was completed and substantially edited just a few minutes ago.

Luindal has seen the Corsairs march off and he is beginning to smell something suspicious, but he's not sure. He is asking for your help. In case you have seen anything odd, please report to the cabin and let him know. You can even use Luindal in your post if you need. He will listen politely, maybe ask a question, or two, but commit to nothing rash at this point. He thinks there could be something fishy going on but he is not sure. If you want to give a report to the captain but don't have time to fill it in immediately, just reserve a save.

By Monday afternoon, I will take us physically to the north in a single post. I will leave some earlier saves on the thread in case anyone wants to backtrack and fill that in....

brief absence

I am going to be away from a computer Thursday through Saturday of this week. I'll post before and right after so it shouldn't be that much of a problem.

However, Piosenniel has agreed to watch over the game and also to carry my character if needed. She'll deal with any problems that arise.

I know.....it's not a good idea to intrust a Corsair to an Elf. So all you Corsairs and Lossoth allies will have to keep a close eye on her and report any problems when I return!

OK, we're finished digging holes. Marreth has asked you to relax for the evening. As soon as the Elves show the next day, you guys know what to do. Even if I am away a day or two, just carry on with your posts.

Actually, despite my desire to get rid of all these pesky fools, you can only kill the imaginery ones -- not the real posters .

Niluial,

As soon as Luindal can get his act in gear.... !

Sorry about the delay. This week has been crazier than usual.

Actually, I am just starting the post. Luindal will talk with Arry, and then go ahead and do a narrative post that will get us on the road. In order to cover the main points in the story, the trip up the coast will be presumed to be "routine". It will end with the arrival on the northern shore. At that point, we can start the posts of the Elven crew settling in for the night. If you hear anything suspicious in the bushes, you might mention it.

Oro - your PM's are full!

I left a lead-in for your character if you want to use it. Galhardir is leading Annû and Rôg off to a nearby glacier to chip off ice for water for cooking and tea.

Rodhal was left back at camp, tending the little campfire while Carandû puts up the tent for the night. The reindeer need feeding, too, if you want him to do that. The food (grasses and some grains with feedbags) are in the big supply sledge they hauled up there with them.

Hope this is OK. If not - I can easily edit.

****** Volunteer Needed******

Wanted: A post where one Elf or Good Lossoth creeps around outside camp to look for signs of anything "suspicious".

You need to be able to do such a post in the next two days, and I will reply with instructions by pm as to the type of thing you might find. (Please make sure your pms are cleaned out so I can get through. )

In the interests of fairnness and since I can only use one "scout", this grand and glorious opportunity will go to whichever poster responds first on this discussion thread and asks to be the spy.....

If no one volunteers by Saturday at mid-morning, I will use a carry along to do the deed, but I would much prefer a "real" poster!

Luindal, your ever vigilant leader

Rinfan -

That was me with the sticky pen, and not Pio. But if it makes you feel any better, I have to do a second edit of my own signature at least half the time. And once in a while, Pio has caught me in the act.....

*******************

Luindal's post up.

I'm still looking for a spy from the good guys. I've reserved a spot on the thread so you could put your post here if the game goes forward. Whoever does this, I don't want you to see any Corsairs....just find some physical evidence that suggests someone was on the shore recently. Just bring it to Luindal at the end of your post. You can use my character to reply.

If it doesn't get filled in within the next few days, I'll just take care of it with an edit in one of my later posts.

I've also put up a general save for whoever needs it.

***********************

Ok, the pairings are up: some to go out on the ice and some to rescue. Please check the posts. Anyone out on the ice is welcome to fall through. Make sure to keep those ropes tight. I am really relying on those back on shore to pull us in. Believe me they will have plenty to do, especially when the Corsairs start shooting.

I have a save posted to lead the first groups out in the morning...probably won't be filled in till the evening tomorrow.

*********************

Arry,

You may notice that Carrandu is conspicuously missing from the list. Afraid I can't quite trust him. I have doubts about your brother, but am willing to give him a chance. Carrandu is welcome to discover that he has been assigned to reindeer duty. That means he will stay on the shore and guard the reindeer. Don't know how your character feels about this, but I have a feeling it's not good!

Can one of you put my post on that SAVE for the last of the evening activities? Thanks!

EDIT: post is placed ~*~ Pio

----------------------------------------------

Carandû was silent as they walked back toward their tent. The ebb and flow of conversation between his brother and Elwë flowed over him without penetrating his thoughts. Annû caught up to him and tapped him on the shoulder, intruding on his quandary with his words. ‘Well, what do you think, big brother. Think there might be a chance we’ll find what we’re looking for?’

‘What I think,’ said Carandû, turning to his brother, ‘what I think is that there is something strange going on here. Why am I not going on the search teams? You know what the Captain wants me to do? He wants me to take care of the reindeer. The reindeer! What sort of a make-do job is that?!’

Annû and Elwë raised their brows at learning the job Carandû had been assigned. Annû noted his brother’s eyes had taken on a certain determined glint. ‘What are you thinking of doing?’ he asked, his hand reaching out to touch his brother’s forearm.

A faint smile creased Carandû’s face, disappearing as he turned and headed back again toward the camp. ‘I’m going to mind the reindeer, of course. What else is there to do?’

What else is there to do? Annû watched his brother disappear into the tent, thinking that he most likely did not want to consider the answer to that question.

Child - I am happy to have Elwë be the spy! I'll get working on a post and have it up before the end of the day!

Rinfanawen – The best thing to do is to stick a piece of sticky paper on your PC saying “Take Off Signature” in bright red, that’s what I did… now I just do it automatically! Just a tip…

Spy Post - please fill this into the spy's save!

***************
Elwё’s heart jumped as Luindal asked him to search the shore for any indications of company. “Be careful when you go! I am probably wrong, but it’s possible we have company. Make sure you are not seen. And if you see anything unusual, come back and tell me. Oh, yes, and one last thing, whatever you do, do not walk out on the ice itself. Stay on the snowy banks.” Luindal said concernedly, followed by a meaningful pat on the shoulder.

“I’ll be careful and I swear I won’t miss any evidence, if there is evidence.” And with that Elwë turned around beaming. Pride and pure ecstasy filled Elwë. Me! I was asked… me!

He started walking towards Andtuariel, ready to tell her the wonderful news. He stopped. She probably won’t want me to go. Hmm, or she’ll worry herself to death. He turned around once again, changing his direction towards a fellow elf. “If Andtuariel asks you where I am, say I have gone to fetch wood.” Elwë said softly.

“Sure!” said the elf.

Elwë entered his tent. He was no longer filled with joy but instead a mixture of feelings. He was excited, because he was chosen and yet fearful of what could happen. What if I fall in an ice hole? No, remember what Luindal said, “whatever you do, do not walk on the ice itself” just stay clear Elwë, step by step. He tried to clear his thoughts but another one jumped right into his head. What if there is company and I bump into our ‘company’?. “Get a grip of yourself!” he hissed allowed to himself.

Slightly shacking Elwë tightened the laces on his leather boots and put on a warm, soft fur coat. He sighed slightly and walked back outside in the bitter cold. Slowly he started to walk in the direction of the shore. His feet felt as heavy as a thousand bricks and they kept sinking deeper and deeper into the snow making it harder to lift them. The snow-laden wind cut into him like needles penetrating his skin.

What felt like hours he finally arrived at the shore. Whatever you do, do not walk out on the ice itself. Stay on the snowy banks echoed in his head numerous times. He looked around, shielding his eyes from the piercing snow. He just noticed how dull everything was; there was nothing but whiteness and different shades of grey.

He searched carefully, like an eagle does for its prey. He squinted; sure there was nothing when something black caught his eye. He bent down and picked it up. It was a rough, homespun sort of cloth, it was black with crystallized sea water on it, “odd but not enough evidence” he murmured. He shoved the cloth into his pocket and was just about to walk off when something in the snow glinted. He bent down and started to dig. There it was, a silver pocketknife; its handle embellished with diamond and square patterns, its curved blade was extremely sharp and it was slightly rusted yet well kept and polished. He used his sleeve to wipe the snow off it. Elwë then inspected it closely, surely it’s too ‘rich’ looking for a Lossoth, but not too ‘rich’ looking for a looting Corsair.

Elwë quickly shoved the knife in his pocket and looked around, making sure the company wasn’t near by. He turned around and walked faster than before. He was excited of what he had to show Luindal and wanted to get out of the cold.

When he got back to the camp Andtuariel ran up to him and hugged him. Elwë rolled his eyes, “who told you?”

“I thought you were lost while getting the wood! And, wait, told me about what?”

“It doesn’t matter!” he said, his eyes searching for Luindal.

“But, where is the wood?” Andtuariel said suspiciously.

“Like I said it doesn’t matter.” He said impatiently.

Luindal spotted him and gestured him to come over. “Did you find anything?” Luindal asked rapidly.

“Yes!” he dug in his pockets and pulled out the knife and black cloth and handed it to Luindal. “I found these two items.”

“This knife must belong to one of them, I have never met a native, Lossoth with a knife such as this one.” Luindal said while examining it closely.

“Me neither. Unless it belongs to one of our men but I haven’t seen anyone with a pocket knife like this.”

“I’ll have to ask, but I doubt it. This cloth, no one here has clothes made of this cloth.” Luindal said depressingly. “Thank you, you have done a great deed Elwë.”

I did a post for Annû out on the ice (page 4 of game) - so you might want to note it before you fill in your SAVE on page 3.
