Two more Today
1. During Spanish class - when talking about the giant heads on Easter Island - you immediately start thinking about / imagining the Pukel men. 2. During Drama rehersal, when your fellow cast member mentions the word "flame thrower" your thoughts immediately jump to Denethor. You then start laughing hysterically and everybody stares at you.

You are totally amazed when at the same time your brother is watching a samurai movie and trtying to look for Christopher Lee and John Rhys-Davies, you watch another movie that has Cate Blanchett in it. Unfortunately it's so easy to find her so the "look for the actor who was in LotR" game is a breeze.
You know you are obsessed with bugging your friends obsessing about LotR when you terribly miss them during the summer break. Now you have no one to bug with your obsession. Say...what if I bug you people? |

I actually found out that I'm connected with all of the LotR-actors! A bit complicated, but I'll try to explain anyway... My mum used to be classmate with Michelle Pfeiffers cousin. Michelle Pfeiffer was in 'I Am Sam' with Sean Penn. Sean Penn had a guest appearance in Friends as Phoebes' boyfriend. Brad Pitt also had a small part in one episode, and now he's in Troy with Orlando Bloom!!! See? I have such influated friends...

For exra credit in my Chemistry class, we had to make a mole (as in the animal. If you don't know how that relates to chemistry, don't ask, I couldn't explain it.) and we got more points if it was super cool (yes, my teacher actually said 'super cool').
I made Gimli, my best friend made Legolas, and our other friend made Aragorn. We wanted to make the whole Fellowship, but there wasn't time or enough LotR fans. Here's some more: ~You name your nuerotic cat Turin ~You call your car a Winged Beast and curse it to 'the darkness from whence it came' when it breaks down. ~You purposefully go to movies with LotR actors in them (I can't wait for Troy and Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind !) ~Your Creative Writing teacher is tired of reading about LotR and LotR-related subjects ~You and all your friends have Elvish nicknames which other people actually call you by (mine is Feanen. Some others are Anar and Vana. We got our Chemistry teacher to call us by that) ~You tell people you don't like to 'go back to the Void, spawn of Morgoth' ~You're planning a trip to the U.K just to see The Eagle and the Child. Yes, I do all of this.

You know you aare obsessed w/ LOTR...
...when you try to go all day without eating anything, just drinking water. I failed. Oops.
...when you try to sleep standing up, and your family gets annoyed because you had fallen over twice that day. ...when you call the rock in your front yard your ent-house. Then you remember that all ent-houses have water nearby, so you take one of your sister's beach pails, fill it with water, and set it beside the rock. I then proceeded to sing (badly) and sway side to side.

Death By Geology!
When you have a big geology test and as soon as you see the essay questions the little Eomer in your head screams:
"Write, Write! To Death... (Etc.)" The Theoden in your head cries, "A grim morn, a foul test, and a glorious lunch hour at the Barrow Downs!" What? Don't you have little Rohirrim in YOUR head? You don't know what you're missing! Mwa ha haaa! MAEG! (With Theoden and Eomer)

You have come up with the parrells between Star Wars and LOTR.
example: Gandalf = Yoda Sam = R2-D2 and C-3PO Boromir = Lando Gimli = Han Solo Legolas = Princess Leia Cave Troll = Jaba the Hut and so on

When you´re spending too much time on this site, checking the "active topics" every minute to look for some new, interesting discussion
Or when you starts discussing the elven language with your brother, trying to find out what a word or name is in english (or in my case swedish)

*Legolas = Princess Leia* Roflmao!!!
*Sam = R2-D2 and C3-PO* Actually, I always thought of Merry and Pippen in those roles... You know you're obsessed with LotR when.. ~You discover that the middle name of one of the poets in the "Fireside Poets" unit in your American Literature class is "Greenleaf," and proceed to point this out to everyone saying, "Look, look, his name's Greenleaf! You know, like Legolas from LotR? What, don't you remember?!" ~Anytime a teacher assigns an open topic report, you choose something that has to do with LotR ~When your teacher decides to assign a short story/poem reading, you pick a poem from LotR ("The Lament of the Winds," to be precise.)

Your psychology teacher starts talking about Bloom's Taxonomy, and you start thinking about Orlando.
You get excited because you think a guy on your campus is dressed as a hobbit, but it's his real clothes. (Seriously! He had dark curly hair, a brown jacket, a dark wool scarf like Pippin's, a white shirt, and short pants! I thought that he had hobbit feet [gross] but he was just wearing sandals that had a dark panel on topl) TTFN! MAEG!~

You're looking at your little sister's kiddie menu at a restaurant, and you see an activity that says, "How many words can you make from WONDERFUL?" You start writing: Elrond, Elf, Eru.... Everyone gives you strange looks.

Just the other day I was involved in a Drama competition in this cool town in Pennsylvania, New Hope. Anyway, they had this one really cool sword shop where there were replicas of every sword used in the movie. I promptly displayed my obsession by naming every sword, even without looking at the lables, along with Gandalf's staffs, Saruman's staff, Gimli's helmet, a helmet from the people of Harad, Barahir's ring, and numerous other objects they had for sale.
Regretfully, being 7 months away from my 18th birthday I was unable to buy any of the swords I don't know how my Drama instructor would have taken that though, bringing a sharp sword onto the bus *evil smily* But I was able to get this great Elvin pendant with a "diamond" in it. And by "diamond" I mean fake jewel.

The other night I watched the Johnny Depp (*drool*) movie From Hell (good plot, but really disturbing!!) and I found out that Ian Holm was JACK THE RIPPER!!! I was shouting, "BILBO!! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!?!?!!" Now that movie is known around my household as Hobbit From Hell. Sniff sniff, I'll never look at Fellowship the same way! Now I see why Bilbo flipped out when Frodo showed him the ring!! His killer instincts were returning!!

Iaurhirwen, my best friend gave me a sword necklace with a "diamond" in it to rememeber her by when she was going to college. Its probably one of my most prized possesions. In the card she gave with it, she said she hoped it'll "be a light in dark places".

Ok for those upset over Ian Holm playing Jack the Ripper in From Hell , he has played worse. He played a high Nazi officer in a movie about the Holocaust. So there have been crueler roles little Bilbo has played. He's such a tainted Hobbit. First getting angry at Frodo from with holding the Ring from him and now this? He's gone to the Dark Side ladies and gentlemen.

- You can read the Silmarillion all the way through, no stopping
- You can understand the Silmarillion - Questions about the Sil in the Quiz room don't stump you - Family trees are quite obvious - You read the Sil for fun - Your hair is grown out past your waist, is permanately waved and has eleborate braids in it - Or, your hair is a tangled, curly mess - You insist that "obey your elders" applies to you, as you are obviously an elf - It's not wine and cheese, it's ale and mutton! That's all I can think of for now...

Has anyone seen the movie "Crybaby"? I think that is the title.. I can't remember exactly. Johnny was a 1950's bad boy rocker nicknamed "Crybaby." How about the movie "Dead Man?" Okay, back to the regular topic before I anger the mods and am forced to make a blood sacrifice to appease them. Heh heh. -You can quote entire pages from "The Hobbit," which you haven't read in full since seventh grade. (I'm in college now, so that was five years ago for me. I know, shame on me for not reading it for five years.) -You know more about the armies involved in the Battle of Five Armies than you do for World War II. Same thing goes for the Battle at Helm's Deep, Battle at Pellenor Fields, etc. -You know the names of every dwarf in Thorin's company, every member of the Fellowship AND their families, all of Aragorn's nicknames, and the names of every person mentioned in Rohan and Gondor combined, but you can't remember the names of the people in your school psychology class. (Well, I'm not that bad. I only know the names of Thorin's company and the Fellowship, and most of Aragorn's names.) -You've written stories and poems in dwarf runes to keep people from reading them. (Guilty.) -You teach your sister how to read dwarf runes. At first you feel really knowledgeable and cool, but then you realize that she can now access the above mentioned writings. D'oh!!

I was outside in the garden working, and my step-dad was carrying this big log while he was singing: Yo ho, and a bottle of rum!
And then he threw the log down a steep slope. I ran down some stone steps while I was yelling: No! Not good! Not the rum! My step-dad just looked at me like I was a loon, and my 7 year old brother said I looked like a Uruk-Hai when I ran down the stone steps. I didn't know if I wanted to take it as a compliment or an insult...

You know you're addicted to LotR when...
When your history teacher asks you about great battles of our time you blurt out 'Pelennor Fields' without even thinking, and then go very red when everyone starts laughing, including your teacher... |
