If you, by any strange chance, checked out the Barrow-Downs main page within the last few weeks, you may have noticed that Rings of Power are our current theme, and that the Elven rings are explained both on the very first splash page, and in an article of their own which is linked to at the bottom of the Rings article

Sharkey, that is just too much work for our lazy friend here. Let us just give him the answer instead of equipping him to find it for himself. I mean, we should be more generous. Teaching folk to be self-sufficient is just plain cruel.

So, here is the answer you are seeking, Zippo. You were wrong. Gandalf did have one of the Three. His ring, Narya, came to him through Cirdan the Shipwright(an Elf) who had it first. Vilya was entrusted to the noble, virtuous, fair, wise and kind Elf-Lord Elrond after it had been in Gil-galad's possession for some time. Nenya went to Galadriel. All three rings were forged by the Elf Celebrimbor and were never touched by Sauron.

To add to red's message:
Nenya was the Ring of Adamant/Water
Vilya was the Ring of Air
Narya was the Ring of Fire

I fell into the burnin' ring of fire... sorry!

Okey
Gil Galad got Vila but gave it to Elrond
Cirdan got Narya but gave it to Gandalf
and Galadrial got Nenya.
I hope that answers your question.

Actually, they were given to Elrond, Galadriel (i believe), and Gil Galad. However, Gil Galad passed his ring down to gandalf.

If you want to go right from the start. When Sauron came to get the rings. Galadriel took one, Nenya, and Celebrimbor to the others. Which were given to Gil-galad before Celbribor died. Just before Gil-Galad died he gave Narya to Cirdan and Vilya to Elrond. Then when Gandalf arrived Cirdan gave Narya into his keeping.
