My favorite elf would have to be Legolas. It has been a while since I read the Fellowship so I can't accurately recall what Haldir's character was like, but based on my vague memories I would have to be the most fond of Legolas. He went with the Fellowship and was one of the main characters throughout the novels. I like how his character interacted with Gimli in TTT when they were comparing the number of orcs they had slain. This applies for both the novel and the movie. Their friendship and his skills as a warrior made me prefer him over Haldir. Although I have to admit I was sad when Haldir was killed in the movie. I was glad to find out when I read the novel that it didn't happen. But regardless I still prefer Legolas in the books and movies. I also don't think Legolas was a pansy in the movie. He still fought alongside the rest of the Fellowship and acted seriously. True, the movie Legolas is not exactly like the character in the novel, but I didn't feel Legolas was portrayed weaker than his book counterpart.

SInce I'm not interested in elves that much, don't think that Legolas is SUCH A CUTIE and since Haldir dies in the movie the decision is not too hard: None of 'em.
The movies have more or less spoiled my view of the characters whom I did like in the books. But hey, that's just my point of view. I understand that some people prefer one of the two, but I wouldn't understand if people argued about who's more good-looking.

On the other hand, I think this really belongs to "the movies" and not here.
