I'm quite keen on such Middle-Earth best-sellers as
Whatever Happened to Maglor?, The Mystery of Gil-Galad's Parentage, and Glorfindel– Reincarnation or Copycat?

Why so few dwarvish women? Why didn't Frodo just hop on an eagle and drop the ring in the Crack 'o' Doom? Who is Tom Bombadil, and why does he dress like that? Who is Goldberry, and couldn't she find a better looking mate? Why does everyone in The Hobbit break into song at the most inopportune times? Why does everyone in The Hobbit have a ready-made poem or song for every situation? How did the Elves bypass 10,000 orcs to get to Helms Deep? What happened to the two Blue Wizards, and how did the Valar run out of different colored robes to dress them in? How did Earendel in a flying boat kill a giant winged dragon? Come on, you have to admit the visual appears silly. Elros is a man, not a half-man, but Elrond is a half-elf, yet genetically he's mostly elf. Even more so are his kids. It's a mystery...

Oh yes, I know The Riddle of The Balrogs' Wings is a classic, but frankly, I think it's been done to death. Familiarity breeds contempt, and all that...

This is not a movie topic, and since the answers to the title question have taken a humorous turn, I'm moving the thread to the Mirth section of the forum. Please continue to read and post there - thanks!

I'm not a 'genre' reader, and the only 'mystery' tales I like are the Sherlock Holmes stories by A. Conan Doyle. A Study in Scarlet is probably my favorite of the novels, and The Red Headed League the top of the shorts.

It's a complete mystery to me what people see in mystery books, however mysteriously enough I quite like Poirot, he has an air of mystique I find mysterious. By the way have you seen the film Mystery Men?, No!......neither have I...
