Silmaril Before the hour of the moon

There were only light from the stars in middle-earth. Right?

I just started reading Silm for the first time, to my understanding middle earth had a 24/7 night until the moon was made from the flower of Telperion.
And Aman was dark aswell after Ungoliant destroyed the two trees, right?
Or was there some other light source in Arda?
