Short Stories of a Humerous Persuasion.

I wrote this little tidbit of revisionist history a couple years back; dug it up recently and thought it might steal a laugh or two. Couldn't find a place to post it, so created a new thread. If anyone else has some short and funny/silly stories that they've written, share it here!

There was real-life, the forgotten, which on the Internet is abbreviated "RL"; and for long count of years people were content. Out of real life were born the geniuses, and the offspring of their thoughts were to affect millions. In their minds voices spoke to them in ways of secret and cunning, and they devised great works of ingenuity and power. Long they worked alone, in sheds and basements and garages, or a few together in exclusive clubs, while lesser people looked on in awe: for they comprehended naught of what the geniuses said, but understood only those parts which they were meant to comprehend. Yet ever as the populace listened their knowledge grew, and so the number of geniuses increased.

And thus it came to pass that mighty corporations and companies formed, and the geniuses schemed in unison, devising still better works and instruments. And the opportunities were unfolded to them as their pay increased, and the power they gained was contagious.

For a great while this seemed good to the people of the world, and much good indeed came from the geniuses and their corporations, for in those days things were done for good, and not for power. Yet as time wore on, it came into the heart of one Bill Gates to create instruments for his own purpose, and have power and money more than was good for a person to have. To Bill Gates among the geniuses had been given the greatest gifts of power and knowledge. He had gone often alone into his garage, seeking formulas on circuitous boards, for desire grew hot within him to bring into Being things of his own, and it seemed to him that people took no thought for Machines, and he was impatient to change their thoughts. Yet he found not the circuitry or space in his garage, for in those days his garage was small. But being alone he had begun to conceive thought of his own unlike those of his brethren; and he devised a computer chip.

Some scoffed at his ideas, and straightaway people laughed, saying ‘what a geek!’. But others who themselves had been given this title came to him, and he welcomed them, and together they built in secret the Personal Computer.

But there was another computer built during that time; Macintosh arose, and the geniuses perceived that it was the greatest thing ever created, and so it gained in power and had popularity. But when Bill Gates heard of Macintosh he and Microsoft rose in uproar and contended with it, and he released the Personal Computer, and there was war of computers upon the earth, until Macintosh fled defeated for a time, and Microsoft had the mastery. But the people rose and cried out for better and faster computers, and Microsoft provided them.

Then the people rejoiced, and all competition ceased, and Microsoft ruled the world.

But Macintosh bided its time, growing in strength and awareness, awaiting an opportunity to rise up and challenge Microsoft once more. And Microsoft released Vista into the world, and the people were confused, and hated it, saying things that were in that time indecent to say. Macintosh knew their time has arrived. Yet that story is unfinished.

Disclaimer: I don't hate Microsoft or consider Bill Gates an evil person. I get very annoyed with their products at times and use Linux, but this story is all in fun as I recognize their vast contribution to the world of computers.

Five years late but ah well - this is brilliant!

High five from a fellow Linux-user - I wonder what our part will be in the unfinished story.
