Wassup!!! I just found this site today! I've been pretty obsessed with L.O.T.R. since the Fellowship came out in theatres. I took a small journey from middle earth summer 02, but since TTT came out, I'm right back in more obsessed than ever! I use elvish as a second language, got an elf, hobbit, dwarf, and orc name from various sites, this one included. I'm almost finished with the R.O.T.K. book, and I've played TTT game on PS2 for hours. I'm new at this site and really like the hospitality. barrowdowns.com is definitley going onto my favorites list!!! Namaarie!(farewell)

Perhaps you took a wrong turn on the Internet, luin'loki. This is a Tolkien discussion site. I'm sure you would find an Orlando Bloom fan site more to your liking. There certainly isn't anything here for fangirls.
You're welcome to stay and take part in thoughtful discussions, of course. Bethberry

I'm not *brand* new, I've lurked here for a little bit (and I'm in the chatroom a lot), thought I'd start posting a bit. So here's a brief introduction...
I'm 23, was first introduced to Tolkien in 7th grade by my mom, who greatly enjoyed his works in her youth. Since then, I've read the trilogy 6 times (and Silmarillion thrice). Seen the movies too, enjoyed them, but they obviously don't compare. In any case, I hope I can contribute some to the great discussions on this wonderful site! Hi Phrim,
Welcome to this side of the Downs. If you are interested in role-playing games, come visit The White Horse in the Rohan forum or The Green Dragon in The Shire. Come in character, a Middle Earth character. Bethberry [ February 05, 2003: Message edited by: Bethberry ]

Hello I haven't had a chance to take a good look around yet, but I'm hoping I came to the right place for good Tolkien discussion. Looks promising so far
I've read the LotR maybe a dozen times, the Silmarillion a couple times, Unfinished Tales, and I've of course seen Jackson's movies. So, I'm no Tolkien scholar, but I'm not a newbie, either. I hope I have something of substance to offer to the conversation. |

Hi, My name is Brandon or some of my good friends call me Tank and I am 20 yrs old. (Turning 21 on March 19)
I am a newcomer to the Tolkien/LotR fantasy. I just recently watched the FotR in November and I was hooked since then, I've watched TTT also. I know I am a 'movie fan' or not a true fan.. but I have recently bought LotR and after I read that is looking forward to reading other works of Tolkien. My fav characters are.. Boromir - different from the book, but the character in the movie got me hooked and gave me a better understanding of the character. Treebeard - Of Course. Haldir - Just seems cool. I dunno if these are the typical newcomers favs or not but then again I am new. I hope to have a enjoyable experience here and looking forward to your discussions. |

Greetings! i am indeed gladdened to find a site for fellow middle-earth lovers. loved it ever since i saw The Fellowship. read the trilogy, the Silmarillion and The Hobbit, in fact, in that order, before TTT came out . good tales have always fascinated me but Tolkien's world is simply amazing!

Hi,
I've lurked her for a while, joined about a week ago and started posting yesterday. I got my name from a name generator it is my human name in Middle Earth (although it's suppose to be Eloisa - but I forgot the a so I can live with Elois) My favorite Character is Aragorn, but he belongs to Arwen and I liked her too, so if I could choose my own character I'd be one of their several daughters, or their son's wife if he is a lot like his father. My father talked me into seeing the FOTR and I became as big a fan as he is now. We are both reading FOTR right now and are going to read the other books together. So we are the family that read's Tolkien together......... bye Elois |

Welcome to the downs! Post well.

Hiya! I'm relatively new to Tolkien, I regret to admit that I never had the desire to read his works until I saw LoTR, but I'm repentant. The man was an incredible storyteller, and I'm now happy to join the devoted mass of Middle-Earth-dwellers here in the 'Downs. I recently finished the Lord of The Rings trilogy, and I've ammassed a little other Tolkien knowledge from this and other sites, so I'm not ignorant, but I am far from scholarly.
The name you see to the left and slightly above my post is that of my elven alter ego, slightly altered to the fashion of middle earth folk. See you round the Barrows, and Pm me if you'd like to chat. I don't bite, though I do nibble occasionally. ~Lanith |

Welcome to the Downs Lanithelias. You don't need to be too scholarly to enjoy yourself here (as I've found out ), so have fun.

Welcome to all the newcomers. I haven't been here in awhile. Thanks to the people who welcomed me. Right now I'm reading the Silmarillion. Some people have had trouble reading it, but I don't find it hard to read. I am loving it! I have the Book of Lost Tales Part 1 to read next. I will be getting the HOME soon!
