Okay this took a bit of time, but meh I have a bit of it right now
So it looks like the list should be: Valier Jenny Gil Nogrod Mac Volo Samwise had to back out. Mith backed out as well with her reasons and said that she will be doing a game, but will put her name on the senior thread when she does want to mod post #1466. Gil asked to be on the list #1495 just before Nogrod asked. Gil has mentioned his game and therefore modding several times--pages 38 to now. I hope I haven't wasted my time here and if I am wrong on anything please feel free to correct me.

I'm double posting I know...but I have a question.
The seer is just like an ordo? he/she can be turned into a Thing with no warning? I'm not sure I like the Things...the weaver's role is impossible if the roles of the villagers are not immutable.

If roles can be changed without warning then only a connection means anything. A non-connection is only good that day. And really, how likely is it that the Weaver picks two "Things"?
And we have a huge village for the low number of gifteds you're planning, especially if the seer is as like as not never able to reveal his/her dreams and never be revealed.

Just a thought
Since this is becoming a larger village, maybe Valier should consider putting in a couple more gifteds?

Ahhh, I see your point Jenny. This does offer the village little hope...like Valier said though, we can offer solutions to problems as they arise. What to do...hmm

Nonsense, nonsense! We don't need more gifted! If our village is getting larger, what we need are more wolves! (I don't know about this 'Thing' thing, if you catch my meaning.)
In a mafia game, if the game as has eight players, say, there are two mafia, a sherrif, and a nurse. If the number leaps to 15, there are 4 mafia, 1 sherrif and 1 nurse - not more gifted, merely more wolves. Don't you see? In a village that is large, the villagers have a ton of advantage if there are only three wolves because tehre are lots of people to spare. To make it more challenging, therefore, we should not up the number of gifted, but rather the number of badies. Oh, wait a moment. . .do we only have one gifted? A seer? Don't we need some protector or other? If we don't have a ranger/nurse, then I would move to say that we need one. -- Folwren

Valier, I think we could have four thingies. Though the baddies will maybe be more difficult to catch this time, I'd still rather have a too challenging game than a too easy one.

When you said this will be "a game of bodysnatchers," Valier, did you mean that the Things would turn everyone they killed into fellow Things? If that's the case, I really don't see how the villagers can possibly win, as the Things would just keep replacing their dead. Though I'm probably mistaken on something...

The Things choose a person, and one Thing at random is killed and replaced with that person.
Another thought: Can the Ranger be turned into a Thing without warning same as the Seer? Because if so, will either really be helpful? Even a Seer's dream will mean nothing unless they dream of a Thing. I guess I don't much like this body-snatcher idea. The Weaver could be fascinating, but with the way the body-snatchers work I don't think that role will get a good test: if roles change nightly, then anything the Weaver knows is meaningless.

hmmm this all has made me think.... Well when I first though up this game I realized that with the body snatching this would be a more difficult game, But I thought adding the weaver and Seer would balance that out. The Weaver can use their gift wisely to help the village if they are smart about it, that is why I was letting players volunteer for the role. The Weaver can re-Weave anyone they want, as many times as they want. Yes the Seer and Ranger can be turned into a Thing without notice, but what notice could I give without giving away too much? If the Seer and Weaver worked together they could find out the village very quickly. I am not so sure we should add another Thing to the mix. Remember every night a Thing will die and be replaced by a villager. So every day the ambiance of the village may change, which should give the Weaver and Seer something to think about. I can have the Seer and Ranger die like the Weaver when they are voted for by the Things....would that be better? I am not so sure we should have 4 Things. I will leave this for awhile and let you players decide what to do.
I still need occupations from Gil-Galad Rikae Nogrod

By having a dead Wo... er, Thing every day we also have a dead Thing's post to study every day. That's an advantage. When the Seer is turned into a Thing we will probably never find out who it is and that's a major disadvantage. I think it's better if s/he just dies like the Weaver. I don't see a problem with the turning of the Ranger.
Except this, I think we should just play like it is now. It's going to be a lot of fun, even if something doesn't work out as it's supposed to. |

After some thought and discussion I have some things to say..... Ok so the Seer and Weaver when they are chosen by the Things have a 1 day reprieve. They die slowly over the day period and die at night fall. They may use this time to share their info with the village if they chose. But remember what the Seer and Weaver may re veil may not still hold true, because they could have dreamt of someone and they were innocent and the next night they could have been changed. This game is based on the movie "THE THING" (with Kurt Russel), there is supposed to be confusion and doubt all through the village. No one knows who could be a Thing at any given time. The Ranger can be changed into a Thing, the Seer and Weaver cannot be changed. They just die slowly over the Day phase. There will only be 3 Things, remember when the village kills one, there are now only 2 and then 1, they do not get to make "new" Things, they only replace themse4lves. EX; Village lynches a Thing during the day. Now they are down to 2 Things. Those 2 Things pick someone to body snatch, and that villager just replaces one of the 2, they do not bring the Things back to 3.
This is my final verdict!! I will not change any of the Roles again. I will however answer questions, but I agree with Mac in that we should just try the game as is and see how it goes.

Wait a second...one more question: You said "if the Seer and Weaver work together"...does that mean they know eachother's identities? That could make a HUGE difference.

I hate to do this to everyone, but I think I'm going to have to pull out of this game. I've got too many things planned and besides all of that my activity has (obvious) been on a decline.
I'm sorry.
