What's this? New tribes?
Ah, my two favorites are now together! GO The Beasties! Hmm... Well, I've got nothing against this Parson guy, other than he must go eventually, and quite frankly I didn't realize Nell was a girl! I think I'll wait and see how the votes slide.

Why are people so keen on protecting the blimming hypocritical Churchman?
OK. I admit it. I've conceived a passion for Nell. Her brave resilience against all my efforts! Her unexpected depth! That leer I directed at her, my friends, was a leer of love. Save my paramour, friendly Downers! Turbulent priest, begone! And Diamond, if Nell is evicted have mercy...

I also find their choice of Giles as the focus of their post-Smith fury interesting. Why Giles, I wonder? A number had already been voting for him. But, given his major character status, I found some of the votes strange. So today, the main focus seems to be Nell and, less so, the Parson. I rather agree that, in the interests of balance, one of the "chicks" should go. But I still think that + + QUEEN OF FAERIE is the one who's behaviour is most worthy of public rebuke.

End of Day the Thirty-Sixth
Nell: 5 votes
The Parson: 4 votes Queen of Faerie: 1 vote And so, as Ang declared his undying passion for Nell, she recoiled from him in horror. "You what?" He dove to one knee and grasped her hand. "I adore you, my sweet candy truffle, come away with me where we will make beautiful love together!" "But... but..." she tried to extricate her hand, "you aided in the death of my husband!" "Of course, he was in the way! And besides, he was having an affair with the Queen of Faerie, we did you a favor!" "Erm... well I have children." "Forget the little rugrats! You can bear my children and have a household of little Ang's running around." Ang attempted his most charming leer, but alas, it failed. Nell, running out of verbal defenses, turned and ran. She ran, and ran, and ran, and no one ever heard from her again. Rumor has it she assumed a new identity and got plastic surgery to prevent Ang from ever tracking her down. Day the Thirty-Seventh finds 6 contestants remaining: The Dudes: Alf the Prentice, King of Faerie The Parson The Chicks: Goldberry Queen of Faerie The Beasties: Gram Chrysophylax Dives

Fools! Choose now which is worse!
A diminutive wayward parson, who's only crime is being easily sidetracker from his way? OR A Queen, lustrous and evil, who had an affair at her height of power, no doubt plummeting her entire society into a pit of greed and debauchery? Hardly a tough choice, if you ask me.

I'm curious - have all of you who are slandering the Faerie Queen's reputation actually read the story in question? Or are you just going by hearsay, reading your own ideas into an interpretation which is unrelated to the actual personality of the character?!

It's foolish of me, in light of my ardent desire to be on the winning team, to vote with LMP in this case, but as it happens... he is Right. What is Gram still doing here? I seem to recall an anti-dog lobby on this thread a while back, and it seems to me that there is some unfinished business to attend to:
++ Gram, the least important and most boring character left. (P.S. I would go after the Parson, but he's got too much support... Can't join a bandwaggon I didn't help start, you know... )

What kind of name is Gram for a dog? Sounds like an aged P. "Now Gram, don't get upset. Children will be children." "No, Gram, your glasses aren't lost. They are on top of your head." "Eat your porridge, Gram; we can't help it that you lost your false teeth." "No, Gram, there's no man hiding under your bed."
On the other hand, parsnips were never my favourite vegetable, even when smashed with sherry and butter. + + The Parson

End of Day the Thirty-Seventh
The Queen's enemies were thwarted yet again, and Ang took out his frustration on the man of the cloth:
The Parson: 8 votes Queen of Faerie: 3 votes Gram: 1 vote Goldberry: 1 vote And so, the Parson was chopped up into little bits, much like parsley, and garnished a salad that was (you guessed it) fed to the dragon. Day the Thirty-Eighth finds 5 contestants remaining, and one tribe to rule them all: One Tribe to Rule Them All: Alf the Prentice, King of Faerie Goldberry Queen of Faerie Gram Chrysophylax Dives (A note, the last three contestants will appear in a game of Mega-Survivor... don't look at me, look at Ang... but anyway, it's something to keep in mind. Youll be seeing the final three again....)

A query: isn't Master Giles' dog named Garm, not Gram? That's what the Tolkien Reader has been whispering in my ear... BTW, I just reread Farmer Giles of Ham last night, otherwise I would never have noticed...

Garm is the correct name indeed - how could I have missed that so long?! I reread the bits of the tale about him; he starts out a big-mouthed coward and ends up thus:
