COLOR of Stonecrop
I have raised this question a few months ago, pointing out that it is described as golden in LOTR but Barrow-Wight in this community said something about it being red. At the denial of the said person of saying such a thing, this matter was closed, but I have to open this up again.
There IS two entries concerning stonecrop in Tolkien's works that I have managed to find out, which contradicts each other in the matter of color. Seregon, Blood of Stone, which is stonecrop in English language - is blood-red in color ----> Unfinished TAles Amid silver trailing plants that bound itself on the head in reverence for the fallen King, stonecrop gleamed from the crevice in golden color. ---->[B] LOTR[/B Now, it is my belief that stonecrop is an existing plant. Can anyone confirm or deny this fact? If so, what is the color of this plant? Why would have this plant been described differently in color? Last edited by Eorl of Rohan; 06-12-2004 at 01:01 AM. |

The link is here. That raises up the question... Did the revered Barrow-Wight really say it, or did I just skim it over in the Unfinished Tales last time and somehow associated it with him? |

Sedums (also called Stonecrop) come in a variety of shades of grey, white, yellow, pink, blue, and red.
Here is a picture of a red Stonecrop called King's Crown. And here is a lovely yellow Stonecrop.
