What did you think of merry and eowyn riding out to battle together i think they should get a nominee for the best team @ the mtv movie awards

I thought that in the movie, P. Jackson made it look really cheesey, when Eowyn picked Merry up and said "Ride with me" or something like that. Then Merry just smiles and mutters "My Lady".

Aww... come on! If you think that the movie scene was cheesy, the book scene was even more cheesy! In fact, all of Tolkien's books are cheesy! Heroism itself is cheesy, deal with it.

well in that particular case, that scene was extra strong cheese coated wit 100% cheese sauce on a cheese tart dolloped in cottage cheese with a touch of cheese as a garnish.sorry but it was very cheesey, almost clichéd.

There are lots of other threads around to complain about what you didn't like in the movies... It was different than in the book, perhaps, yet not by much.

In my opinion, the book was much less cheesy in that a grim Dernhelm replied "Where a will wants not a way opens", and Merry not recognizing at first Eowyn, but the look on the young soldier's face, the look of one that goes to seek death. But I guess 'ride out with me' and 'my lady' made it clear for everyone, even the ones with short attention span, what was going on. Clear and to the point. oh so chee-, erm hollywoodian. Btw, the way Monaghan played it, it was funny and cute. When he said 'my lady' I couldn't help but giggle. Yes, an MTV nomination for best team is in order!

The cheez factor was definitely aided by the fact that his helm made Dom look cross-eyed.But it fitted the generally more-upbeat than the books feel of the movies, and got the point across. I would have liked 'the look of one that goes to seek death', but I accept it wasn't what pj was going for.

I agree. The scene in the book was anything other than corny or cliched, it was instead very sad and worrying.The film was very different, and none the better for it. Maybe Jackson thought that it would be hard to cover up Dernhelm's identity.
