Sting haldir

Question, why in the TT did Haldir of lorien turn up with a message from Lord Elrond of Rivendell. My theory is that lord elrond sent the message to Galadriel first before going to battle and Galadriel added to lord elronds forces. What do you think?

This will probably be explained better in the extended version, but in the photo story book on the film a council/meeting with Elrond, Galadriel and Celeborn is described. During this there is a debate about helping the men at Helm's Deep, the photo book seems to imply that this meeting is physical rather than telepathic, but we'll have to wait to find out for sure. BTW both Elrond and Galdriel say that help should be given but Celeborn says no.

I heard it was going to be an actual meeting at first, but they changed it to telepathy to save...something... I guess the book didn't get updated. Wonder what version the extended DVD will have...

I was under the impression that when Arwen left, she wasn't going to the havens, but to Lothlorien. She could have given the message to Haldir/Galadriel from Elrond.

i got kinda confused on the whole lorien elves but elrond sent them issue. in the end i gave up and decided that because elrond had sent all his elves to valinor, leaving him as the only elf in rivendell, he could send lorien elves but tag on his name, getting himself all the glory for helping out

None of it will ever totally make sense, since it wasn't intended to be this way.
Anyway, the way the movie people set it up, Galadriel and Elrond communicate via osanwe - the communication of thought from one mind to another (yes - something created by Tolkien). I guess Galadriel gave Haldir Elrond's message.
