Who would win in a fight between...
Who would win this fight:
FINGOLFIN vs FEANOR Well, I guess Feanor always wanted to fight his half-brother so who would kick whos elven face in? Give us an answer and a reason why then add another fight to the thread!

I can't answer that one, but how about this:
GLORFINDEL vs. LEGOLAS Anyone? I say Legolas, but that's because I'm hopelessly in love with him. . .

Sorry to burst your bubble, Saurannûn the Wood Elf, but Glorfindel would win. But the point is moot...the two would never fight!!

Before I address the original question, I must respond to something else that has been said.
LEGOLAS BEAT GLORFINDEL??!! Maybe if Legolas had an army and Glordindel had no weapons. Glorfindel was a reincarnated Noldorian elf-lord who had killed a balrog!!! The witch king was scared of him!! He could beat a wood-elf, prince or not, any day of the week. Feanor versus Fingolfin... I'd say that would be an absolutely amazing fight!! Unless somebody beats me to it, I'll give some supporting evidence later when I'm at home with my books, but I believe that Feanor would win.

No kidding about Glorfindel--he was a b** a** (hence the reason Arwen should NOT have been the one to save Frodo, thank you very much!).
Changing this idea to fair, good-spirited dueling instead of a fight to the death What about Boromir vs. Aragorn? or Arwen vs. Eowyn? (I think if it came to blows between the 2 women with a healthy bit of rivalry, and I do NOT mean cat-fight, you'd see Arwen's true ability and fire spark to high flame...I'd hate to be in a fight with that she-elf).

P.S. This is a running theme at our community coffee shop, only in regard to the characters around our little town. Anyway, I'm always being pitted against some scary characters in this imaginary land, but the point is, it's all in fun, let's do the same here....
Another possible match: Faramir vs. Eowyn? nice little married spat....

Tinuviel all the way, honestly, she put Morgoth himself to sleep. Bravery that was.
Figolfin all the way, i mean cmon, he struck at Morgoth (a VALAR!) 7 times. Feanor got mortally wounded in one battle and it doesn't even say how. Sam vs. Merry...hmm... I'm saying Merry here. He did strike at the witch king even though he was scared out of his skull. Sam nevr did anything in battle. That, and Merry's bigger. |

Have you forgotten about Sam's fight with Shelob? But I still agree that Merry would win, 'cause it takes a lot to spur Sam on, and Merry seemed to enjoy a fight more (in the Scouring episode). So Sam wouldn't be motivated enough to beat Merry, who is of course bigger than him and no pansy in a fight.

King and Steward of Gondor against the sons of Elrond...
I'm going with Aragorn and Boromir here, but I get the feeling Boromir would be killed in the middle of the fight. |

yeah, but Boromir always gets killed in the middle of a fight, that's not creative (JUST KIDDING!).
I would have to disagree on the whole Merry vs. Sam thing. I think Sam is passive/aggressive. If Merry really p****d Sam off, watch out!!! What about Elrond vs Arwen? (i.e. Elrond says: honey, you aren't allowed to date Aragorn anymore, he's a shiftless loser)

As far as Aragorn and boromir against the sons of Elrond, boromir dies, Aragorn has to hold his own, gets distracted by a nearby Arwen, slips on his own drool, and dies.
How about SMEAGOL VS. DEAGOl (In a Fair Fight!)

Hay! SorRY guys, I KNEW I was wrong about Glorfinel and Legolas, you didn't have to FREAK OUT on me! Jeez! Like cats on a mouse!
Anyway, I still think Sméagol would win, Warbringer, 'cause he'd ALWAYS find a way to play dirty, even if it was SUPPOSED to be a fair fight. That's just the way he is.

I'm going with Bilbo on this one, he seemed to be more "rough and tumble" than Frodo ever was.
And Squatter, wow that was corny And I agree, keep the language to a mature level. |

1stly: Glorfindel would kick Legolas's butt...I'm sorry: he's my fave character too, but...let's be real here...Glorfindel got reincarnated for Goddess's sake!
And how about Emeldir versus Luthien? Two kick-butt girls battling it out! Or Eowyn and Luthien even...nah: Luthien would win that...

Oh yeah, Sam vs. Merry would be a pretty close one. Merry stabbed the Witch King and Sam stabbed Shelob. Hmmm...I think Sam would win, Sam rocks too. He did more damage to Shelob, so I think he could win.

No contest. Glorfindel > Legolas
We're talking an Elf-Lord here, the Nine fear him. As for Merry vs Sam that is chance. Both are pretty similar strengths.

Actually I remember a description of Elrond that described him as several things and included that he was a mighty warrior. He fought in battles and was descended from mighty warriors. Galadriel was great and all, but no way could she take Elrond in a fight. (I think they didn't do a good enough job showing that side of Elrond in the movie)

I still say Merry could beat Sam...they have similar strengths but Merry owns the "tie-breaker": size.
Elrond would beat Galadriel. What about Merry and Pippin? They're the same size. I'd say Pippin, just because he faced a troll head on while Merry snuck up on the Witch King from behind. What about Éomer and Faramir? Or Boromir and Faramir?

Hmmm, Éomer and Faramir its hard to say. Each are princes and have good experince in battle. In a close combat fight though i'd put my money on Faramir. (It's not that I don't like Éomer in fact he's my favorite character). However, as fair as being a better general i'd say Éomer is the better tactician. I'd have to vote the B-Man over Faramir though, Farmair is a mighty good woodsmen but not the warrior that Bormoir was.
How bout Beorn vs. Aragorn?

Hurin vs Huor? My vote would go for Hurin.
Turin vs Tuor? Turin. Eowyn would kick Arwen's ***. Legolas wouldn't have a chance agaisnt Glorfindel.

hmmmmmm........ What about Gandalf (white) vs Glorfindel?
I'd have to say Gandalf, though I think it would be very close... and dangerous to any near by people [ December 05, 2002: Message edited by: Maylin Talese ]

Man, that's close. But, in the end, my money's on Glorfindel. What decided it for me was their respective face-offs with the witch-king. Against Glorfindel, he chose the flood of Elrond, even though he had his Riders with him. Against Gandalf, I believe the line is "Old fool! Do you not know Death when you see him? Die now and curse in vain!" or something like that. Glorfindel wins. Although several square miles are leveled in the process.
Oh, and Boromir noogies Faramir into submission. Eomer spears Faramir, from 6 feet out, atop a horse. Elladan and Elrohir dispatch Aragorn and Boromir. Faramir lays Eowyn accross his knees and spanks her. Eowyn takes Arwin inside of a minute. There is a black smear where Legolas used to be. Glorfindel looks smug.
