School
i heard the other day that there is a school somewhere based on Harry potter! if that's so and lotr is much older and better, where's the school?
we could have elven language lessons instead of french, archery for p.e or maybe sword and axe lesson. cookery in how to make middle earth dishes! so where is my school and how can i join cause i'm bored of maths! any suggestions for other lessons maybe we can get a grant or something!

I wonder if I could teach there...
Instead of expelling people, we feed them to the Balrog!

but the coolest would be actually in middle-earth and being taught by all those characters... *does marquee thing with hands* Ring-bearing 101 with Professor F Baggins Gardening for Beginners with Prof S Gamgee Advanced Ranger Studies with Aragorn Elvish for the Novice - Professor Elrond Archery with L Greenleaf Metal Forging: How to Make Armour and Weapons from Scrap with Gimli Wizard Theory with Gandalf the White The Poisoning of the Mind by Power: or, Be Afraid...Be Very Afraid by Saruman Hobbits Foundation Course with Messrs P Took and M Brandybuck (Lesson One: The Art of Second Breakfast) Immortality or Love - Which Will You Choose? with Arwen Undomiel *getting carried away...* [ October 07, 2002: Message edited by: Airerūthiel ]

A Middle Earth school - what a great idea! This is a bit spooky because I was just thinking about something along those same lines a few days ago (great minds think alike). Even if it was developed as a sort of holiday program/summer school idea it would be a brilliant experience for the people involved - at least they would get some sort of education in the skills (archery, swordfighting, Elvish etc.) that really matter.

interesting...however, you can learn a lot from all his( referring to Tonlkien) literature, and so...I guess improving your elvish and such should be the lesson.

True, you can learn a lot about reading the language from Tolkien's books, but it would be great to actually practise speaking with other people who are really keen to learn. Elvish is such a beautifully poetic language: it's like music and quite magical to hear.

Actually, I was looking into it and some Universities have courses on Tolkien's languages and, as part of the course, they teach Elvish...I was just looking around becaurse, well, I'm 15 and I have to start thinking about what college I am going to!
But: if I could go to a college with the Tolkien Language course, I would love to!

Actually, regarding swordfighting, someone told me that the Japanese martial art Kendo is the closest thing to swordfighting. Has anyone tried it? If so, what did you think?
