The wives of Merry and Pippin
I was wondering about this. Firstly, who was Diamond of Long Cleeve? I read somewhere she was a Took, but is there anything known about her parents?
Secondly, in my old edition of LotR, there is no mention of Merry marrying Estella Bolger. Yet I've seen it in newer editions. When did this creep in?

I don't know about Diamond, but my copy on RotK only mentions Estella in the Family Tree part of Appendix C, if that helps...

Yes, I also have a older version of Lotr. It only has one appendix about Aragorn and Arwen. But in the newer versions, there are many more of them. Appendix C, like Dain mentionned, shows family trees of the four hobbits we know best: Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin. It shows both their wives, but only Estella is shown with her own family. Estella Bolger is actually Fredegar's(Fatty's) sister!

Indeed she is. But the older versions of LotR that were in seperate volumes also had the appendices, and I'm pretty sure that they didn't have the Estella marriage.

As I understand it the earliest editions of LOTR had a number of minor errors that were corrected in later issues. Estella's name was one of these.
