awesome!
wow.
i thought i had made the best saruman's staff replica in the world, but nooo. heheh. anyway it's great that you pointed it at the end and added the little ring at the bottom. i didnæt bother with that. also, i didn't care about the lightm but what is worse: i made it for the TTT queue in norway, and i didn't have time to order a white stone for it, so i bought a Ø5cm labradorite which is black.
here are some pics of it anyway:
01 || 02 || 03 || 04 || 05
it's iron all the way. *pretty* heavy yeah (i think the one used in the films has to be partially or totally glass fibre.) The top is composed of 2x4 patterns cut out from 2mm steel sheets with a water cutter (it's an amazing machine and only 6 of them in norway, but the dudes at the workshop thought this was so fun that i got to use it practically for free. actually i didn't operate it but hey.). it's welded together with silver at 700 celcius (the complicated part was to keep the eight parts together during the welding. they cut out a frame with the water cutter to hold it.). At last the Ø1.5cm staff was welded into the tracks premade in the top.
this was amazing to participate in and to witness i tell you! but it was some more work than i had thought it would be. i had the fellowship on divx, so i drew the top of saruman's staff directly from my computer screen to get the proportions. then i assumed the real size of it by comparing it to saruman's head, and drew it onto a mm-paper, where i calculated all the sides, angles and the radiuses of the circles which shape the parts of the top. see, i got to use my high-school math as well! this was needed for the workshop, which plotted the numbers into a PC with a computer program connected to the water cutter, and damn, that was so amazing, that process. if i wasn't already into medicine i'd certainy study something in the lines of that. aaaamazing what with the water cutter and the stone ball and all, in fact, i was about to buy a glass ball but luckily i didn't cos it would've melted at 700 celcius!
considering the work the people at the workshop put into this, it should've cost my freedom. but i got away pretty lightly i guess. paid altogether around, say, 300 euros for it i guess. well i had some money *at the time* and what don't you pay if you're an all-the-way saruman fangirl!!
also, the staff was just a prop to the entire saruman costume. yeah i'm pretty geeky sometimes! for making the costume credible i used brocade, duchess and silk, all white and milky white all the way ... wonderful! but hey that belongs to some costume section!
saruman fangirls unite!!! haha i'd love to see the lego fangirl going to the same extent making his bow!! (altho i did make legolas' costume for a friend too. those short archer sleeves of his outer tunic was a pain in the rarse. i spent five hours straight on just thinking and drawing them before i got it right.)
anyway this was teh long ramble but for next time, don't get me started on something bout saruman k.
i'd love to hear how you'll proceed with the project! i'll watch this topic. can't wait to hear more. and if there's anything you wanna ask me bout the staff or whatever, don't hesitate!

I was going to recommend Kropserkel.com, but it appears your seller is one and the same. However, you might do better for yourself to wait for an official reproduction. You can read news about upcoming offers and reproductions on bladesbybrown.com

You're welcome. The prices are far to high for the likes of me, but they're the only ones with news about the Sword of Boromir.
