The Fall of Greenwood the Great Discussion Thread
Arien and Maikafanawen invite you to play:
Title: The Fall of Greenwood the Great Basic Storyline: It is the year 1052 TA (Third Age), two years after the Necromancer (who will later be known to have been Sauron) entered Greenwood the Great. Slowly darkness and evil have been flowing throughout the mighty forest and rumours have reached the Elven Kings halls that malicious and vile creatures are lurking in the newly made shadows. Less and less people are traveling through the forest and Elven scouts have been disappearing more and more. Now the Elven kingdom is almost cut off from any outside contact and is isolated. Thranduil has decided to send out a party of nine well trained and skilled Elves to see what has happened to his once great realm. Note: All gamers must refer to Mirkwood as Greenwood as it has not been named Mirkwood yet. And the Elves are referred to as Woodland Elves. [ September 22, 2003: Message edited by: piosenniel ]

Arien’s character:
NAME: Ceros AGE: 3654 RACE: Greenwood Elf. GENDER: Male. WEAPONS: Light steel armour, which allows him maximum movement. He carries a long bow about ¾ his height. At both ends it is engraved with silver patterns that intertwine along the whole of the bow. He carries a quiver which is filled with his arrows, it straps around his torso and is carried on his back. He has his own personalised arrows, they have a sharp point and a similar design on the crest as is on his bow and the fletching’s are from a nightingale. He also carries two small knives. Just plain steel, nothing special. APPEARANCE: Shoulder length shimmering grey/ blonde hair which is straight and tied by back with intricate weaving plaits. His eyes are a shining grey, almost silvery. He has fair milky skin. High cheekbones, perfect chin and nose. He is slim and around 6ft 4. He wears a grey under garment with a high collar, on top of that he wears a light steel armour which allows him to move freely without weighing him down. Over that her wears a forest green tunic, with matching coloured trousers and knee high, light, flat leather boots. He also wears a shrouding greenish brown cloak which engulfs most of his figure. PERSONALITY/STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES: He is friendly and forward but tends to judge people before he really gets to know them. He is a born leader and is very head strong, and will not always take into account what others say to him, apart from those which are higher than him. Stays calm and although he is a warrior he is intellectual and enjoys gazing at the stars and writing poetry. This is a side that he does no show too often. HISTORY: He was born in Greenwood. His father is a skilled fighter and craftsman and makes the weaponry for Thranduil’s mercenaries. His mother is a maid in Thranduil’s palace who is learned in many cultures and the histories of Arda. From a young age he was taught to fight by his father and taught the histories of Elves by his mother. For years he longed to be Thranduil’s private army, as he wished to protect the home he loved. He was too young and inexperienced so he decided to leave Greenwood and head out to tour middle earth and gain more valuable familiarity with fighting and the world itself. In time he returned and his hard traveling resulted with him receiving a place as a commander in Thranduil’s army. Now he is one of Greenwood’s most precious warriors ~*~*~*~*~*~* Arien’s post Prolog The greatest forest in Middle Earth stood fair and tall. The breeze gently rustled her delicate leaves that draped down from her mighty trees. And all was silent, still. The sun bathed her in its never ending light, caressing the rolling midnight canopy. And below on the floor she hid away secrets of beauty, And all was calm, good. Years past in an instance and she never waxed nor waned, but held her grace. Many people past dwelt within her, but none so as the Elves. And within her northern realm they lived. It was filled with immense wonder, for it was crafted in the image of the diminished realm of Menegeroth- once the most beautiful place upon Middle Earth. And all was peaceful, alluring. Time still fleeted past and she lost nothing but remained. But one day a shadow of evil entered the south. Twisted forms marred her trees and killed her animals. And she wept. Then he came…….And from that day forth her beauty was no more. Slowly his evil spread and reached the Elves. And they in turn closed their doors to the world. And from then on she was Mirkwood. This is the story of how the evil was found, some died and some lived but he was too strong. The fought but with their failure the doors of their hall were closed. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* “You do know that it is growing. Less and less peoples enter here and trade has fallen…..” Ceros leaned against one of the great trees and breathed into the blackened night. It had been nearly a year now and he had noticed the changes in the forest. A year since the rumours started. A year since a shadow fell like a shroud of misery. No longer did the birds sing their songs of wonder in the south, and no longer did the beasts roam the pleasurable clearings, but lay hid amidst the newly formed darkness. Others had noticed the change too, felt it in the air, the ground, the water. But they were too afraid to speak up, troubled of being accused of being paranoid. For in this world things of shadow would always be. But this was no paranoia, no it was real and Greenwood no longer held herself as she once did. “Yes I do know…” replied a voice in the night, “But what to do?” Orodhin stepped forward into the light of their small fire, so Ceros could see him. “But what to do?” “At least try to fight it!” breathed Ceros deeply. He loved Greenwood with a deep passion and hated it that nothing was being done to counter the threat. The invisible threat as some had grown to call it. The two were on guard duty tonight, protecting the southern road from any intruders, or unwanted guests. Everyone knew there was no real point in guarding it for no one had come from the south for over a year now, and they weren’t going to start now. Plus the rumour of the shadow had put off guards from patrolling these areas, and Cersos and Orodhin were two of the few who would do it. An eerie silence hung thick in the air, and nothing but the two Elves were there. “We don’t even know what we are up against, how could we fight it?” Orodhin replied staring up into the canopy, “There are rumours,” he sighed, “Rumours of a great evil!” “I have heard them too…….” Ceros looked down the Elven path, “that is why we have to do something….now…bu…” “Shh,” Orodhin drew his sword and fell back into the darkness. Ceros had heard it to and silently stepped backwards into shadow. The noise was clear and crisp in the silence, the crackling of leaves underfoot was amplified in the stillness. As the thing drew closer Ceros tightened his grip, but as two figures drew into the fire light his heart jumped. “Talas, Ranude!” cried Orodhin stepping out from his veil of darkness, Ceros too revealed himself. “We have come to relieve you, but you are lucky someone came, many were reluctant to…” “Thank you, goodnight ,” Ceros said and he and Orodhin made their way back to the Halls and left the other two to guard the halls. Blessed by the Valar were the lives of Ceros and Orodhin, for neither Talas nor Renude were ever seen again, this is what drew the meeting together and this is where our journey starts. +*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+* Four months later a meeting was called: To all the Elves of this Realm, the time has come to call into question the Shadow . . . When Ceros had first heard the notice he had snorted, as if this was just another gathering to deal with rogue spiders or unwanted trespassers. But as the Council grew closer, realization hit him. This was serious, the heads of the guards were attending, along with scholars and Thranduil was to be present. Maybe this was actually going to do something. And about time too. There had been more disappearances of late and Ceros could never stop thinking that he and Orodhin might have carried the same fate as Talas and Renude. They had lost some of their best fighters too. Just vanishing into the night, no trace left. But al least no something was going to be done. Ceros made his way to the meeting alone. He had just finished guarding duty, being posted at the west entrance. Luckily escaping duty on the South gate. No one wanted to guard their anymore. No, not since the shadow had got much thicker. As he walked down the Elven path he past the great trees, birds sang their songs, which were once so full of pleasure, but now alas they were filled with misery and woe. The sunlight glinted through the tree tops, and whispers of their Elven dwellers could be heard echoing throughout. Ceros was now nearing the Halls, there were beautiful trees lining the way to the Halls, and around it flowed a dark, strong, swift river and over it was the bridge. The bridge then lead to the mighty doors, which were now swung wide open. Two guards were placed either side of the large gaping hole in the mass of rock. Slowly nodding towards the guards her carried on inside the Hall. The walls were carved with amazing shapes and pictures, breath taking they were but Ceros had no time to stop and stare he was already late. Deep he went into the ground, following the endless, dim corridors but he finally reached it. He made his way to the main atrium where the meeting was being held. Slowly he slipped into the room. There were fifty or so chairs in a large circle. At the head sat Thranduil, upon his fair head he wore a crown of woodland flowers, for it was spring again. But somehow it did not feel so. He wore rich green robes embroidered with golden stitches, and he sat upon his wooden throne. The rest of the circle was comprised of various Elves, some scholars, others guards and some Elves of high stature. The atrium, was a circular room with a high ceiling and broad walls. Large pillars were carved from the living rock and were decorated in spring flowers of many colours. The room was lit with many glowing candles and sweet perfume burned, filling Ceros' mind with the smell of Spring. Slowly he took his seat beside Orodhin, Thranduil rose. +*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+* Ceros leaned against the cedar chair, his arms crossed and his legs stretched out in front of him. With content he listened to Thranduil. “…..they have been missing for four months. Two good archers and able fighters, missing in their own homes? No, the thought is absurd! We must now face this growing threat from the south, speak up those that will for we must do something now…… " [ June 23, 2003: Message edited by: piosenniel ]

Maikafanawen’s character:
NAME: Ihwestaieleva i-linte-er Lauriëlas (Daughter of the Breeze, the swift one, Goldenleaf) Called Ihwesta by all who can’t remember her full name AGE: 1000+ Race: Silvan GENDER: female WEAPONS: For range combat she uses a rich reddish coloured bow that is 1 ½ meters tall. Gold rose-vine patterns explode from the grip and run up the top and bottom of the bow, fading gradually. Arrows made by her mother—an arrow-smith and a bowyer—are of the same reddish wood with soft brown and white feathers and are tucked in her belt/back quiver combination. (Quiver has reversible straps enabling it to be wore on the back or hung from the belt—able to hold up to fifty arrows). Ihwesta also owns two slender long knives that hang in sheathes on both sides of her belt. The handles are also made of the rich reddish wood with identical gold rose-vine patterns. Elvish script that says Ihwestaieleva i-linte-er Lauriëlas runs down the blades, interwoven with gold lines. Ihwesta owns a sorrel overo with equal amounts of sorrel and white splotches. Her name is Lintequesse. APPERENCE: Ihwesta is tall (5’ 10”) and slender. Her skin is a bronzish colour free of scars or blemishes of any kind; proof to her renowned swiftness. She has straight light brown hair. She has an oval face with sharp features. Her nose is narrow and slightly aquiline, and thin eyebrows arch slantingly above almond shaped, dark blue eyes. Altogether she is exceptionally plain. She refrains as much as possible from the garb of hunters and trackers. Instead she dons skirts from mid-calf to ankle length, in greens and grays with gold embroidery, and matching tunics that tie at the shoulders and belt around the waist. In her hair she wears decorative feathers and leather straps, and on festive occasions, even adds tiny bells. Around her neck, ankles, and wrists she’ll sport jewelry that reflects her dedication to the natural earth. The ornaments consist mostly of interweaving leather and reeds, with the occasional feather stuck in here and there. When her feet aren’t bare—which they usually are—she’ll slip on a pair of flat-footed, light brown shoes. PERSONALITY/STRENGHTS/WEEKNESSESS: Has the ability to blend immediately into her surroundings, or flee in the literal blink of an eye. Ihwesta’s rapidity is almost magical. She is also an excellent tracker. Ihwesta can read signs left upon the ground by those who walk upon it, discerning how quickly they passed or whether they carried burdens. She can also listen to the ground to hear the movement of groups of men or orcs (since Elves and Hobbits make no sound when they walk) at a great distance. The Elf also has great weather-sense. She can determine what turns it may take or how much time will pass before a storm arrives. Ihwesta is sharp-eyed, keen-eared, observational, and a quick analytical thinker. Around common people, or strangers she is headstrong and argumentative. Though she is not of noble blood, nor any connection with the guards, she is respected and well liked by her friends and popular among the Silvan Elves. An exotic dancer, Ihwesta passes most of her time entertaining at celebrations and singing self-made ballads for renowned Sindar Elves in their homes. Ihwesta is not known for her skill in battle. She is very good with the bow, but nothing extraordinary . HISTORY: Ihwestaieleva I-linte-er Lauriëlas was born to Minyahiniwen Curu-ech-lúva Legolas (her mother) and Rildëoreion Lissi-lammen Lauriëlas (her father). Rildëoreion is a brilliant speaker and works in the palace of Thranduil as a scholar, educating other Elves and keeping record of the Elves’ library, and their history. Minyahiniwen is a fantastic bowyer (and arrow smith) who owns a successful shop just outside of the halls, where many of the guard come to purchase their fine weapons and replenish their arrows. Ihwesta’s older brother, Orodhîn linte-cham Lauriëlas, is learning the art of bow making and hopes to travel to Lórien with his skill. Ihwesta learned a bit from her father on the lore of the Elves, but was more concerned with the world about her. She picked up as much information as she could from the trackers and hunters of Greenwood. From them she learned weather-sense, tracking, herb lore, and how to use long-knives. Without a solid purpose or profession, Ihwesta roams the woods, thinking up new ballads, and drawing pictures of different trees and plants for her father to use in his books. Then the shadow began to spread. Orodhîn’s friend Ceros, a warrior for Thranduil, spoke of going out and discovering the source of the shadow, and conquering it. Though Orodhîn had obligations home with Minyahiniwen in their shop, Ihwesta offered to help in any way she could. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Maikafanawen’s post She didn’t want it. It was drab and strident which wouldn’t help her dance at all. But the Elf was smiling and he looked sincere. Ihwesta extended her hand, accepting the pair of bell-adorned anklets from Ghiorden. “Ah, thanks, Ghio, thanks a lot. They’re very—well you’re very thoughtful.” She smiled up at him tucking the anklets into one of the deep pockets in her skirt. Ghiorden was very kind, and Ihwesta had enjoyed his company a lot, though he was two thousand years her senior, while she was learning to arch, but lately he was growing into a bit of a nuisance, and she couldn’t piece it together. “Are you dancing soon?” he asked eagerly. “I have no events scheduled requiring entertainment from me as of now. I’m taking a break, but when I practice I-I’ll wear them.” She forced a slight smile, her mind buzzing for some excuse to get away. The day had been long and hot. Ihwesta was forced now to take extra caution as she journeyed further from the palace walls, which meant going slow and studying carefully her surroundings. One of her brown hide shoes was ripping down the back and she lacked the tools to mend it now, and doubted returning home soon with Ghiorden drilling her with pointless conversation. When she thought all hope of repairing her shoe and getting to the Council on time, she was rescued. “Ihwestaieleva,” said a voice behind her. The Elf turned to see [Elf #3] coming her way, probably on his way to the Council. “They are expecting us. If you’ll excuse us Ghiorden.” The older Elf nodded, disappointment slightly lining his face. “See you later then, Ihwesta.” He bowed and retreated gracefully down the hall again. The she-Elf slumped her shoulders and confided in the guard Elf. “I feel so nasty. But, there’s something peculiar about him and I don’t trust him at all.” [Elf #3] stopped and tossed a glance over his shoulder then looked down at the she-Elf beside him. “Yes, he is eerie, I’ll give you that.” Ihwesta absently rubbed at the button on the side of her tunic. “I know he wants to work with Minyahiniwen at the shop but, well, she’s picky about her work and only Orodhîn knows how to fletch or polish just the way she wants it. I wonder how long he’ll be at it.” They entered the Council hall where Elves were already seated, waiting for Thranduil to address their purpose for gathering. The king spoke of the disappearances of the Elves in recent weeks and of the growing shadow that seemed to weave its way through the ancient trees taking the merry forest creatures and beautiful shrubbery with it. Then he called for action, action that would discover the perilous enigma that was soon to envelope the entity of the Woodland Elves’ home. Bravest among them was Ceros. He was first to speak. “Friends of old, I know what must be done. A company of nine shall patrol to the depths of the wood to unveil this mystery that consumes our realm. I propose that—” “Hold a moment! This is dangerous!” protested [Elf #4, brief description]. Madness to explore something we know so little about. No one who has met this peril has lived. It is insanity to risk the lives of yet more people.” His/her brow furrowed in disturbance as he glanced around the room for support. Another came to his aide. “I agree with [Elf #4],” offered [Elf #5, brief description]. “No one would take up with you, Ceros, except the foolhardy and novice blinded with a false sense of honor towards the realm.” Ihwesta shook her head and stood also, asking permission to speak. Thranduil nodded and she began, “I disagree with both of you and will follow Ceros. I do not mean to sing my own praises, but I am a decent tracker and if this power is not supernatural, the best among us could stand against it, I am sure.” [Elf #4, and Elf #5] shook their heads, retaking their seats. A few moments of silent echoed silently in the air. Ihwesta was one of the youngest there and felt awkward searching the gatherings’ faces for replies. Then, another spoke up, agreeing to take up with Ceros. “I may be how you say ‘blinded with honor’, but to me that is a credit in itself,” stated [Elf #3]. “And I am neither foolhardy nor is my reasoning for reverence false. You have everything I can offer,” he said, bowing low to Thranduil and then looking towards Ceros. “I will go.” “Have you no concern for your safety, [Elf #3]?” another interrogated. “You, Ihwesta, your mother needs you in her shop? Yes?” [Elf #6] leaned forward in his seat, honest trepidation for the young she-Elf impressed lightly on his face. Orodhîn spoke but did not stand. “I help Minyahiniwen in the bowyer shop. Ihwesta is free to do as she chooses.” [Elf #6] scowled slightly. “We need skilled warriors,” Ceros pointed out. “Our troupe will not be complete without many of you. [Elf #4], please reconsider.” The first to depress the idea stared down the Elf who stood by Thranduil before standing slowly. “I shall go. [Elf #5]?” He stood beside his friend. “Yes, I will join thy company,” he answered. After what was a short time to Elves, though truly two plus hours, a company of nine was ready to do the king’s bidding. _____________________________________________ Note: The #'s will be filled in with names once the players are chosen for the game.

Everdawn’s character:
NAME: Bierayn Arië, known as Arië, the younger. AGE: 702 RACE: Elf GENDER: female WEAPONS: A bow, given to her by her father, and two daggers, embossed with charms of the Elves, which she likes to think she never needs to use. APPEARANCE: Five feet eleven inches tall, Fair of face, with deep green eyes and long white-blonde hair. Arië is beautiful, but no more than she would consider Greenwood. She wears the dresses of the Woodland Elves which are in shades of green. Her hair and garments are often adorned with tiny white jewels. However, Arië does not wear her dresses into the woods when she is tracking, but light boots, and a dark green tunic with silver Elven stitching. PERSONALITY/STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES: Arië, being younger than most Elves considered warrior Elves; she is slightly intimidated by them. She is a dreamer, and likes to be among the natural energy of the wood. Arië will often walk for hours among deer and birds that flock to her. Arië has an aura about her, whatever she says is always important, which makes the older Elves respect her. She is an expert tracker, with a keener eye than most Elves. What she lacks in the skill of archery, she more than makes up for in hand to hand combat with her daggers. Though, she prefers to be a pacifist, but will kill if there is need. She will never kill an animal of grace. HISTORY: Biearyn Arië, is the daughter of Menorë and Sendalien Arië, who are both loyalists to King Thranduil. Arië is an only daughter, though found brothers in many of the King's guards. Although young in the eyes of the Elves, she shows wises of an Elf twice her age. When Arië was younger, she grew a habit of exploring Greenwood, alone; this laid the foundations of her love of the nature and the animals within Greenwod. Often a quiet child, she would speak as if she were older, this enchanted almost every Elf within the Elf king's halls, including the King. Arië lead a quiet life, learning about the forest and tracking. Orodhin was one of her best friends who taught her this art. She has never had a need to attack and kill another creature. *+*+*+*+* Everdawn’s post Once again Arië had wandered off into the wood, against many of the Elves wishes. Two had gone missing in the previous months, and the Elves still had no idea why. She walked barefooted through the woods until she came to a stream. The water was not deep, but the brook was a harbour for all kinds of small fish. Arië ran her hands through the water. Several deer had come from the surrounding woodlands at the sound of Arië’s voice raised in Elfish song. “I though it would be that you would not come.” She spoke to one of the deer who laid down beside her. “Tell me Aras, have you seen them, the guards that have gone?” she asked it. “That deer can tell you nothing.” It was the voice of another Elf guard Noneil, he had a desperate look on his face. “Mae govannen” she said as he helped her up. “You mother sent me, to find you. Mellon, you should not go away like that now these days bring danger!” there was look of concern on his face. “Come, back to the halls we shall go.” Arië sighed, “You doubt me so, It is not wise.” She shook her head. “However, Noniel, If you think that I am unsafe why do you come alone?” He stopped, a look of surprise on his face. “Well, I did not think.” He said plainly. “I don’t think that my safety is at all threatened by this part of the woods.” He said. “Precisely my point.” Replied Arië. Noniel looked as if he could not speak. “Do not let it trouble you my friend. Now, why did my mother really send you?” she asked taking a sideways glance at him while they walked. “The King has called a meeting, Ceros is also attending as he has something to say.” Arië interjected, “about the missing ones?” “That is what I am thinking; I think he wants to send a search party. In which case I will not go.” Arië spun around. “OH! But you must! We must!” Noniel frowned, “We?” “Yes, I will go, you forget yours Elf, I am a very skilled tracker Mellon, better than many guards. Not to make mys Elf better offcourse, but I could be a real asset.” Nonile began walking again. “You may discuss that when you hear what the King has to say, or after you discuss it with your parents. Who of course will not allow you to go.” This annoyed Arië, “You may not tell me what I can do, Noniel, You are far too protective of me, I can look after myself, better than you could. Now, lets not fight, I do not wish to find an enemy in you old friend.” They crossed the bridge from the river and proceeded to the Elf King’s hall. Most of the inhabitants were there, including her mother Sendalien Arië, who was called Arië also by the Elves, and her father Menorë. “I have told you, daughter. Never to go out there, now these days bring peril.” He said solemnly. “She only wants to be closer to Ea, hervenn” spoke the elder Arië. The king spoke. “Ceros take me. You know as well as I no one here can track as well.” Ceros nodded, “Yes, you have a point young one. But for a woman to be out in the dangers of the woods, I am not so sure.” The king nodded. “I know what I am doing, you yours Elf Ceros have said on numerous occasions that I have been able to sense things before the others. And what if it could help you, I can fight, these guards have taught me from a young age!” “Very much correct Arië. You are quite in touch with everything also aren’t you.” He stood thinking for a minute. I will speak for you, for I have much confidence in you, come you will, that is if Menorë and of course the King have no objections.” She glanced at her father. Who stood tall in thought. “I will allow her, if you shall speak for her Ceros. Even I know you would be foolish not to accept an offer form Arië the younger.” Said the king. Menorë frowned. The older Arië at his side, “If it is you wish King Thranduil, My daughter will go, and all blessing will follow her.” Arië breathed a huge sigh of relief. “Ah! It is done!”

Here are two descriptions of the meeting. Please read them carefully and craft your First Post for the game with them in mind.
Your character's First Post should revolve around hearing about, thinking about it and the events that have led up to it, and arriving at this meeting called by King Thranduil. _____________________________________________ From Arien: Four months later (Note: after the disappearance of the two Elves, Talas and Renude, and others of the Elven host) a meeting was called: To all the Elves of this Realm, the time has come to call into question the Shadow . . ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ From Maika: There are no less than thirty of the most influential Elves (including Ihwesta’s brother, Orodhîn) sitting in a semi circle with Thranduil’s chair opposite them with I guess his wife and son(s) and daughter(s)—if any—on either side of him. The hall is in the design of a clearing in a forest. Columns are in the shape of trees from which branches protrude when they meet ceiling, reaching out over the room. Candelabras—with five uneven candleholders each—stand around the border of the room giving off an adequate amount of light. The chairs are made of mahogany, the most fine and rare kind of wood with carvings of vines, fruits, nuts and berries on them. [I’m going to say that it’s probably around early springtime?] Thranduil is wearing a crown of golden vines with budding flowers representing the time of season. His robes are of vibrant blues and golds and his golden blond hair is not plaited but let loose and wavy over his broad shoulders. In his left hand he holds his scepter: made of mahogany that is finely painted in motifs of lilies and daffodils for the spring season. The meeting is taking place in early evening around 5:00 pm. Character Description Form:
Have you ever played in an RPG at the Barrow Downs? – YES- Which one?- Footsteps of the grey company. How many RPG’s on the Barrow Downs are you currently involved in? 2 - The Summons and Dark Seduction Have you posted in The Green Dragon Inn or in The White Horse in Rohan? – YES– The Green Dragon Inn. NAME: Taurëwen Taur'ohtar (Forest maiden, Ranger/woodsman) AGE: 2575 RACE: Silvan GENDER: Female WEAPONS:Taurëwen carries a long bow of silver grey beech wood inlaid with a green ivy leaf design, her plain earthen brown quiver hugs her torso to sit comfortably on her back. it is filled with silver tipped arrows, the arrow heads are made for her by Minyahiniwen the arrow smith , but the shafts and fletching she does herself using what ever the trees and birds of the greenwood provide for her. she has a light steel elven short sword with the same ivy leaf inlay on the brown leather hilt, it has elven runes of protection delicately engraved down both sides of the blade (The runes are for the protection of the woodland realm and not for her personal safety). from her waist sits a long knife, the handle of which is made from deer horn. APPEARANCE: Taurëwen is tall and slender, about 5 ft 10 inches. her fine golden blonde hair sits just past her shoulders , the sides tied back in a number of various braids that are interlaced with woodland flowers or gold/red leaves depending on the season. She has bright piercing green almond shaped eyes and is always dressed in forest colours (Again depending on the season) Greens, gold's and browns in spring and summer, reds and gold in autumn and dark browns in winter..Taurëwen always wears a shabby green herb satchel on her belt. Her mother made it for her when she was still young in the world the faded yellow stitching can only just be made out 'Fallaner' (Healer). Her complexion is darker than most as she spends most of her time out in the woods. PERSONALITY/STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES: Taurëwen is good natured and friendly but serious about her protection of the Woodland realm and she only raises her weapons in defence of the Greenwood. She is well versed in herblore and her abilities in healing are held in high regard by all of the Woodland Realm. She can be quite stubborn when she feels she is right and often follows her instincts. HISTORY: Taurëwen is the second child of Ithildin (her father) and Nieninque (her mother) and younger sister of Talas, Ithildin is a captain of the kings guards and Nieninque is a healer of the Royal halls. From a young age it was noticed that Taurëwen shared her mothers gift of healing, so Nieninque shared her talent and her extensive knowledge of herblore with her daughter and Taurëwen became a great healer. But being stuck to the confines of the halls of healing did not suit the forest maiden and she more and more went out into the woods to gather the herb's herself. She loved every little thing about her woodland home, she would sing with the birds as she gathered her herb's and listen to the chattering of the squirrel as she rested in golden glades and secret place that she found in her wanderings. She was never more happy than when she wandered the greenwood. Taurëwen's father and brother did not like her wondering through the woods unaccompanied, especially as her walks tended to take her further and further from the safety of the halls, "There are thing out there that you are not equipped to deal with" they would often tell her. "Teach me!" she yelled at Talas one day after he saved her from becoming lunch for a rogue spider, on one of their walks. Talas had looked at his sister in surprise, she was skilled with the bow like all of their race but only once had he seen her kill anything with it, a deer, he remembered the tears that had streamed down his sisters face as the deer fell to the ground, she had even tried to heal the poor beast but to no avail and as far as he knew she had never hunted again and ate only what the forest and animals provided (nuts, berries, milk.....etc). But as he looked at his sister he could see a change in her, her eyes burned with anger, not at the danger to her own life but at the hurt that the spider had cause the Great Wood. "Are you sure!" he had asked her, "Please brother, I now know my purpose" she had begged him and there in the damaged glade she swore to do all in her power to protect and heal the Woodland Realm from all hurts. Talas had kept his promise and taught her to use a short sword that he had specially made for her (This is the sword she now carries) he also taught her how to make arrows for her bow. Taurëwen had taken a thick branch that she had managed to save from a Great beech tree that had been poisoned by the evil spider and she gave it to Minyahiniwen the bowyer and asked her if she would fashion it into a bow so she could protect the rest of the woods from the same fate. Minyahiniwen had agreed and lovingly shaped the branch into the bow she now carries. As the years passed Taurëwen became as skilled with bow and sword as her brother, and she was often permitted to take the watch with him and her healing skills never failed. Taurëwen also learned to read the signs the forest gave to her and the secrets they kept, Talas endearingly called her elle-Taur'ohtar (Little Ranger) and this is how she got her second name. In the past year a shadow has fallen over her, her melodic woodland songs changed to laments and she became saddened as a great shadow rose in the south , the usual chatter of the squirrels had become coarse and bitter and their grey coats had turned black as night and even the once beautiful trees of the southern borders had become twisted and gnarled. When her brother disappeared her songs ceased altogether and she became quiet and withdrawn , but that grief has slowly turned to anger over the months and brought new determination to her, she had sworn in the presence of her brother to protect the realm and all in it and although she feared her brother was dead she intended to keep her promise. ____________________________________________ Nerindel's post Taurëwen walk slowly back from her watch of the eastern borders, after her brothers disappearance four months ago she had ask the king's permission to join the watch in her brother stead, With a saddened heart he had granted her request. "The Song of the Greenwood is lost, but it shall ever remain in our hearts" he had told her sympathetically. He had been right after that day she had not had the heart to sing and even now she could not find her voice. As she walked she suddenly felt a cold shiver run up her spine, she looked up to see the path that ran to the south gate, how she got here she could not fathom, her feet had merely brought her here. She pulled at her green and gold tunic nervously and took a few steps towards the gate, but as she did a short gust of spring wind blew and the trees shook their new leaves in warning. Shivering again, she heeded their warning and did not venture into the thick darkness that lay about the gate, instead she quickly turned and made her way hurriedly to the council halls. As she neared the Halls she reached out her hand to touch one of the great beech trees that lined the way to the Halls, her heart gladdened that the shadow had not reaches these magnificent trees, she glanced back, the shadow could not be seen from here but it was still heavy on her heart as she crossed the bridge and passed through the great doors of the Woodland halls. Deeper and deeper she went until at last she reached the main atrium. The meeting had already begun, so she slipped quietly into an empty seat at the back of the circle. She breathed deeply taking in the sweet smells of the wild spring flowers and sweet perfumes that filled the room. "Friends of old, I know what must be done. A company of nine shall patrol the depths of the wood to unveil this mystery that consumes our realm." These were the first words she heard as she had blocked out the others concerning the missing elves to prevent her grief from resurfacing. She did not need to look up to know the voice was that of Ceros the commander of Thranduil's army, She could feel her cheeks flush with anger as she listened to [Elf #4] and [Elf #5] speak of the dangers, off course it would be dangerous, but it would be more perilous to sit here and wait for the darkness to engulf us she thought heatedly, but as she was about to rise and air her protest another spoke. "I disagree with both of you and will follow Ceros. I do not mean to sing my own praises, but I am a decent tracker and if this power is not supernatural, the best among us could stand against it, I am sure." As she looked up she saw Ihwestaaieleva, Minyahiniwen the bowyers daughter, she drew strength from the younger woman's words and managed to calm herself, then another Elf rose and spoke his piece offering to go with Ceros. The other two were obviously still not convinced and spoke openly, she lowered her head as Orodhîn rose in the defence of his sister. Taurëwen had harboured secret feelings for the male trainee bowyer before her brothers disappearance, Orodhîn and Ceros had been the last ones to see her brother and they had both been unable to tell her anything of Talas's disappearance. She had been unable to look the young man in the face the last time she had been in his mothers shop, she had practically bolted from the shop when he handed her the silver arrow heads he had made for her. She continued to listen as Ceros convinced the other Elves to join him, Then she watched as the King consented to let Arië the younger join the company, A wise decision she thought for she knew of the young elf was more attuned to the nature of the woodlands than even she. Seeing now her opportunity to speak she grasped it "I too will go" she called determinedly "Nooooo" she heard as all eyes locked with hers, she suddenly felt uncomfortable. The cry was her mothers and her father was now walking towards her, he placed his gentle hands on her shoulder and looked at her askingly, "Please understand that I must father " she whispered, " I have to know what this darkness is and from whence it has come ere it consumes me, it already eats at my heart by the taking my beloved brother and by the corruption of beasts and trees of our southern borders" she saw Arië nodding her agreement with her assessment of the border. Her Ithildin nodded then turned to the King and Ceros, "If you permit it my lord, my daughter shall go with Ceros and the others. She will been of great asset as her healing skills are unsurpassed and she is quite capable in combat." "You have no need to convince us we know full well the ladies skills " the king assured him "You have my blessing" Ithildin embraced his daughter then went to reassure and comfort his wife. Taurëwen took her place silently with the others and awaited the kings bidding. [ July 01, 2003: Message edited by: piosenniel ]

Character list thus far:
Arien: Ceros - leader/warrior - male Maikafanawen: Ihwesta - tracker - female Everdawn: Arie - tracker - female Nerindel: Taurewen - healer - female Ok, since we have two trackers already, we don't need anymore of those, I guess we only need one healer. Let's concentrate now on getting some good male fighters. But if you really want to do a female elf we have one--maybe two--more openings. It has to be a good female bio though. Have you ever played in an RPG at the Barrow Downs? No
Have you posted in The Green Dragon Inn or in The White Horse in Rohan? – YES– The Green Dragon Inn. NAME: Gilbereth AGE: 1065 RACE: Silvan GENDER: Male WEAPONS: Long slender sword, primarily for thrusting and not cutting. It has a basket hilt made up of an Intertwining vine and leaf pattern that covers the entire front and most of the sides of the hand. The blade is of a strong flexible metal that only has a cutting edge along the last couple of inches of the blade. To accompany his sword, he has a matching dagger with the same long narrow blade. He also has a small iron buckler that has Elvis script around the rim and in the center his family crest. For armor he only wears a light-weight chest plate that also bears his crest, a hand bearing a tree branch and underneath it, a sword with the Elvis Inscription "Do not draw me without reason, do not sheath me without honor". APPEARANCE: He is tall (about 6' 7") and has blond hair that is tied back in braids as is the custom of Eleven nobility. He has blue-gray eyes that always look somewhat sad. Because he is nobility he wears the robes of his rank, most of which are rich forest colors and are richly embroidered with leafy patterns. On his feet he wears Eleven slippers. His face is not much to look at and is fairly plain, but almost handsome in its plainness none the less. PERSONALITY/STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES: Like most elves, he can walk silently over any terrain. He is an expert swordsman, and has been taught fencing for most of his life. He may be a skilled fighter, but will never start a fight ,but he is always the one who finishes it. He is always calm even in the most dangerous of situations, which he usually tries to avoid if he can. He is not overly brave, but not a coward either. His parents (both being nobles themselves) taught him at an early age that if he wants something in life he must get it himself, and not trust anyone else to help him. With this in mind, he has made very few true friends, and has always fended for himself. He is very popular in the court and is always up to date with the latest fashions, some may even call him a fop. HISTORY: Gilbereth was born to Eladine and Sindarieo, both nobles in the King's court, his father actually being one of the King's advisers. Like his parents, when he came to the age when he must decide what to do with his life, he decided to simply remain at court with his parents and live the life of a noble. He has but one older brother, the captain of the Eleven Guard, but he was one of the first of the elves to disappear when the shadow came to their lands. Despite his parents every effort to find him, the brother was never found, but Gilbereth's parents still hold on to the secret hope that maybe he's still alive. *^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^ Eladain Moruviel's post "Oh Mother, must I come?" said the young Gilbereth with an irritated tone "Those Council meetings are so long and boring ,I'd much rather be out with showing off my new spring clothes" "Yes you must come!" His mother shouted back at him from the other room "All the important nobles are coming, how would it look if you, the son of one of the King's advisers, didn't show up?" "Alright" he sighed" " I'll come if I must" And so, a little while later they both set out for the Council hall. When they arrived, most of the other elves were already seated. They were hunters, trackers, and nobles for the most part. Also seated there, were some soldiers and some members of the King's guard, distinguishable by their green and gold uniforms. He and his mother found his father and took seats next to him. A few moments later the King started to speak, but Gilbereth wasn't paying attention, he was thinking about his brother, he had been doing that a lot lately "It's been what? A year since he had gone missing" he thought to himself. The next thing he knew an older Elf by the name of Ceros was saying “Friends of old, I know what must be done. A company of nine shall patrol to the depths of the wood to unveil this mystery that consumes our realm...."what's going on he whispered to his mother "Good heavens child!" she whispered angrily "haven't you been paying attention?" "Well..um...no" he replied,s omewhat embarrassed "The King has been talking about the shadow that has come to our beloved forest. He says that we must send someone to find out what it is" Just then an elf [Elf #4, brief description] jumped out of his chair and shouted Hold a moment! This is dangerous! It is madness to explore something we know so little about. No one who has met this peril has lived. It is insanity to risk the lives of yet more people.” As Gilbereth watched another elf[Elf #5, brief description] stood up and nodding his head in agreement with [elf #4] said “No one would take up with you, Ceros, except the foolhardy and novice blinded with a false sense of honor towards the realm.” Then, to Gilbereth's surprise a young female elf stood up and said "I disagree with both of you and will follow Ceros. I do not mean to sing my own praises, but I am a decent tracker and if this power is not supernatural, the best among us could stand against it, I am sure.” Elves [#4] and [#5} retook their seats. And a few moments of silent echoed silently in the air. “I will go.” And so it went on for hours , some agreeing with Ceros, and some disagreeing, but in the end it was decided that 9 elves should go into the woods and search out this shadow.8 elves went forward, each in there turn, but one more was still needed. "Well" Gilbereth though to himself "Here is a way to show my parents that I am responsible, and maybe even find my brother while I'm at it. they need one more elf, why shouldn't it be me" And so, to his parent's shock, he stood up and asked the king if he could accompany the other Elves on there journey saying "You all knew my brother, he was captain of the guard, and well liked by all. you also know that he disappeared early last year. I wish to go along with the company, and see if mayhap I can find him, or at least something that could tell us what happened to him" His parents tried to convince him not to go, but he was determined and so there efforts were fruitless. And so, finally, the King accepted him as the 9th member of the company. [ July 03, 2003: Message edited by: Eladain Moruviel ]

If you find an edit from me on your submission - I'm just setting the First Post up in a manner so I can transfer it easily to the game when it opens.
_____________________________________________ Also, please note when you run a line of characters across the screen (to make breaks between sections of text), just do it half-way (which is one length of the 'post a reply box'). If it is extended too long it pushes the entire screen out and makes it difficult to read. Thanks - Pio, Shire Moderator

Hope you guys don't mind a novice!
Have you ever played in an RPG at the Barrow Downs? –NO Have you posted in The Green Dragon Inn or in The White Horse in Rohan? YES Which one? The Green Dragon ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ NAME: Ainemetion AGE: 675 RACE: Silvan GENDER: Male WEAPONS: A pair of long knives, with handles of deer antler. They were a gift from his uncle at his birth, and Ainemetion is never without them. He often practices alone, but has never had a chance to use the weapons in combat. APPEARANCE: Fairly tall (6’4”) with long, tawny hair and very dark eyes, nearly black. He wears a plain brown tunic and is always barefoot. PERSONALITY/STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES: Ainemetion is known for his quiet, acquiescent personality, and is considered a pushover. In truth, his attitude is not indicative of a lack of courage, but of a natural respect and submission. Ainemetion is truly passionate, and stands firm in his beliefs. However, he rarely sees profit in argument or battle. Though he secretly longs to prove himself, he is content to appear passive until his time comes. This behavior makes him a disappointment to his parents. His mother is affectionate, but Ainemetion senses her secret dissatisfaction. His father is openly disapproving, and treats his strange son with contempt. When Ainemetion does speak to and issue it is with power and conviction. Though he may be full of misgivings, he will hardly ever back down once he has finally taken a stand. His speech is resplendent with the knowledge he has gained in many years of watching others and listening to their discussion. His mind is never idle, and Ainemetion can often be found in rapt contemplation, perhaps solving some imagined problem or conflict. This causes him to seem quixotic and oblivious, and maybe he his. HISTORY: Ainemetion was born to Galanduin, an expert sword smith, and Evien, a smalltime healer. Both parents wanted a gifted child to help them in their work. Obviously, they were equally disappointed. Their son was born small and weak, and grew to be a quiet, daydreaming boy with no apparent talents. Always aware of his parent’s displeasure, Ainemetion came to expect rejection. At first, he became servile and fawning, forever trying to earn approval of others. Of course this repulsive behavior did not get him any friends. Finally, he gave up on gaining friends, and turned to the peace and seclusion of the wood for comfort. Since that choice, Greenwood has been family and friends to Ainemetion. He has a deep sense of devotion to the beasts and plants of the wood, and loves all as brothers. The quickest way to earn Ainemetion’s displeasure is to insult or harm anything living in Greenwood. He is just as loving towards the Elves of his home, for he has always believed that he was unacceptable, rather than that others were not accepting. This is, in a way, true, because his problem is one of not considering himself good enough. One Elf has helped and supported Ainemetion since the day of his birth. His uncle, Annúneldaion, loved Ainemetion and saw something in him his parents did not. Annúneldaion has not openly befriended his nephew, but preferred to wait for Ainemetion to realize that he must take a stand and make his own way. Ainemetion always sensed that he had a friend in his uncle, and strove to please him. Unfortunately, Annúneldaion is one of the Elves who have disappeared. When Ainemetion realizes what must be done, he will stop at nothing to avenge his uncle and shield others from the same fate. But first, he has to rise above 675 years of passive silence in two hours. *+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+ Kates Frodo Temp's post The tall, well-built Elf named Ainemetion was just returning from a solitary walk in the wood. It was so beautiful in springtime, he could hardly keep away! Everything was so fresh, so alive! When he reached home, Ainemetion was puzzled to see his father at the door to greet him. “Council,” he growled. “You should go.” “Oh, yes! Go!” His mother, Evien, rejoined. “Alright. I’ll see you when I get back.” The door slammed shut. Ainemetion slipped quietly into the Council hall, hoping he had not disturbed the other, far older Elves. He took an empty seat and settled in, preparing to hear what he knew would be a lengthy and intriguing conversation. He expected the council was concerned with the strange disappearance of several of the best Elf warriors. Ainemetion listened as a respected Elf named Ceros began to speak. “Friends of old, I know what must be done. A company of nine shall patrol to the depths of the wood to unveil this mystery that consumes our realm. I propose that-- Ainemetion sat silently for a moment, staring at the intrepid Ceros. Did he really believe anyone would accompany him? Even if they did, what made the hotheaded Elf think they would come back? Ainemetion was the last one to reject a plan to protect his beloved home, but this was insane! He could not keep silent. “Hold a moment! This is dangerous!” protested Ainemetion, leaping to his feet. “It is madness to explore something we know so little about. No one who has met this peril has lived. It is insanity to risk the lives of yet more people.” His brow furrowed in disturbance as he glanced around the room for support. Another came to his aid. *+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+ Let me know if the new info is typical. All suggestions are welcome! [ July 04, 2003: Message edited by: Kates Frodo Temp ]

Hey Pio, could you change that on your character list? We only need one more female character, not two and then two more male elves not one. [img]smilies/biggrin.gif[/img] Thanks!

Thranduil is sending out a party of 9 Elves according to your basic storyline:
You started with 3 characters in place: 1.)Arien --- Ceros (male) 2.)Maikafanawen --- Ihwestaieleva i-linte-er Lauriëlas (female) 3.)Everdawn --- Bierayn Arië (female) You specified the additional Characters needed were 6 more Woodland Elves: You specified in your proposal you wanted: 3 Female Woodland Elves / 3 Male Woodland Elves So far you have gotten: 4.)Nerindel --- Taurëwen Taur'ohtar (Female Elf #1) 5.) Female Elf # 2 – still needed 6.) Female Elf #3 – still needed ~*~*~*~ 7.)Eladain Moruviel --- Gilbereth (Male Elf #1) 8.)Kates Frodo Temp --- Ainemetion (Male Elf #2) 9.)Male Elf #3 – still needed Did you wish to change your proposed "Characters Needed" to now read: 2 Female Woodland Elves / 4 Male Woodland Elves Please advise.

Sorry, I made a mistake. I meant we need 2 more female Elves and 1 more male. Sorry about the confusion.

Wait! Arien, I thought that we had decided that our final count would be four female elves and five male.
I want four females and five males total: in a real outing in Middle Earth there probably wouldn't have been any females so it is most reasonable that there is at least a greater number of males even if it is just by one. Pio: If you could, change the Characters Proposed to what you have pointed out in your last post. Thanks very much. -Maikafanawen

Ok then. Pio and Maika sorry, I was confused. Maika is right. Realistically there would be more males then females on this adventure. So once again:
We NEED: TWO more male Elves. ONE more female Elf.

Hello, I was wondering if I could play in this RPG. I've been looking over the storyline for many days now, and it looks very interesting. I actually wanted to use my favorite character on this one. I used her in Cirith Ungol, though I must admit I have developed the character info a little more than when I posted there.
Have you ever played in an RPG at the Barrow Downs? Yes, Cirith Ungol and Truth in a Dark Place How many RPG’s on the Barrow Downs are you currently involved in? 1---Hunt for the Dragon Have you posted in The Green Dragon Inn or in The White Horse in Rohan? Yes, the Green Dragon For your character please include: NAME: Eruwen AGE: 843 RACE: Silven GENDER: Female WEAPONS: She carries nothing other than a wooden bow crafter by her father and a small dagger. The bow is of great Elven design which includes writings of her ancesters throughout the engravings. The arrows held in a quiver around her shoulders are of the same brownish wood as the bow and are marked with her father's personal design. The dagger she carries is tied around her lower leg and is safely hidden within her shoe. It is of hard, grey steel with the name of her mother engraved along the blade. This design Eruwen did herself. APPEARANCE: Eruwen's hight reaches around 6'1 when she stands at full length. Appearing beyond pale, yet also fair skin color and long, brown hair are the raging, sea-green eyes of her mother. She wears a light, green tunic embroidered with pale green and silver designs along the sleeves and near the brown belt at her waist. She wears lighter, brown trousers with strong, dark, brown boots at her feet. Underneath the dark, brown cloak tied at her neck, lies a small, silver flute which most know nothing of. This flute was given to her by her grandfather and holds a very close place in her heart now that he has sailed on across the sea. PERSONALITY/STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES: Eruwen has a very high spirit. Her personality is split, in a way, as if it has two separate parts. One, she loves music and songs. The other, the stronger if you will, she loves to fight more than anything. She takes on the strength of her father by nature but also carries the weakness of a close relative of hers that has now faded from all life. Although quite skillful archery and able to defend herself, she has the fate of tending to make sudden decisions which are sometimes dreadfully costly. HISTORY: Eruwen was born and grew up in Greenwood the Great. Her father, Aratar, is very close to Thranduil, the King, but he liked to keep a further distance from Thranduil's halls to gain some peacefulness from all the comotion around the palace. Though he made his dwelling on the further most northern outskirts of their people, they do have many neighboring Elves of which Eruwen has grown to love. Her mother, Artue, who was a well-skilled scout for Thranduil, has not been seen for over a year. Sadly, she was one disappeared while searching the wood. Eruwen often liked to sit in the long branches of the towering trees around her home in hope that her mother would soon return. In spite of all the heartache Eruwen has gone through, it has helped her become a very strong and valiant creature among the Elves. Eruwen does have a brother, by the name of Nárello, but she rarely sees him. Nárello is a warrior of Greenwood the Great and is posted for much of the time at the South gate. *+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+* Eruwen's post Many years passed by after the disappearance of Eruwen's mother, Artue. Long the shadow had passed into their forest, and it was drawing even closer to the Silven Elves of Greenwood the Great. As always around the later part of the day, Eruwen rode through the deep wood closer towards Thranduil's palace and then on towards the South gate to greet her brother before she returned home again. Soon a break came in the forest as Eruwen rode into sight of the palace. She gazed up at the towering peaks before her as a soft wind began to blow. The bright sun shone through the tops of the trees down onto the land below her causing a shadow to be cast down on her, and it also caused the wind to become strangely cool. As she passed by the palace, she began to notice many Elves, many she knew, slip behind the walls of Thranduil's dwelling. Curiously, she kept riding passed when suddenly she saw her brother about to enter the palace as well. Eruwen quickly dismounted from her grey steed, Mírie, and ran over to where he stood. "Nárello!" Eruwen yelled catching his attention. Nárello froze and turned to meet his sister with a discouraged look on his face. "Eruwen, go home," he said forcing her away. "You don't need to be here." Eruwen looked at him strangely, but then she spoke again as she realized what was happening. "You told me the council wasn't until tomorrow," she said. "Why did you lie to me?" "Because I don't want you to come, now go home!" "No!" Eruwen yelled causing many Elves to turn towards them. Seeing she caused a sudden crowd around, she lowered her voice again and continued. "She was my mother too, Nárello." she said. "I deserve to avenge her disappearance as much as you do." "But I don't want you to disappear as well," Nárello replied. "It's too dangerous." "Well what about you? Don't you think I wouldn't want you to go either?" "And I probably won't. Thranduil is sending only the most skillful of the Elves on the mission." "Well then, I shall go," Eruwen said starting to walk towards where she saw the other Elves enter, but she was stopped by her brother. She looked up into his piercing, green eyes and saw the fear he held. "I'll be alright," she said finally, but it didn't seem to help. Ignoring Nárello's wishes, Eruwen quickly made her way down to where the council was being held. Many Elves were seated already as Thranduil rose to speak. He spoke of many of the disappearances in the forest and of the shadow which was drawing close in the land. Soon a well-known Elf, Ceros, stood and spoke. "Friends of old, I know what must be done." Ceros stated. "A company of nine shall patrol to the depths of the wood to unveil this mystery that consumes our realm. I propose that—" His words were soon cut off by an Elf at the side which protested his idea. Many other Elves spoke up and both protested and agreed to going with the company. Soon many Elves already agreed to go, and, without much reguard to anyone, Eruwen stood suddenly. "I will go as well," she said raising her voice above the crowd. |

I wonder if all of you who have given a character bio have read any of the other's? You all have a family member who has disappeared ... which is fine ye know. Who wants to run an RPG full of heros ... *ME* [img]smilies/wink.gif[/img] Kidding. Just thought I'd point out the irony...
Anyhow, Eruwen's character and post are fine. Unless Arien sees some area for improvement, you're accepted. That means we need only two more males. Though if you wanted to submit a female bio that's fine, you will just have a very small chance of being accepted that's all ... *yawn* Well I probably should have waited to post this until tomorrow morning because *yawn again* I've v v v tired---ZzZzZzZzZzZzZ

Eruwen: I don't think so. Otherwise we'd have a pretty good idea of what it was taking them.

Before the game starts, I thought you guys should know my position. I have unlimited computer access for this week and next week, and will be taking full advantage of it. (I do need 5 hours of sleep, though! [img]smilies/wink.gif[/img] After next week, the most time I'll be able to give is 2 hours a week. I'm committed for the whole 10 weeks, but I wanted to make sure that this is acceptable for the game. Thanks!
Oh, yeah. I'll be deleting this post after you get a chance to see it, unless Pio beats me to it! [img]smilies/smile.gif[/img]

What do you mean 2 hours a week? Like ten min intervals twice a day or one day a week for only two hours?

It varies. Okay, here's the deal. I'm 14, and my parents limit my computer time to 2 hours a week in 30 minute intervals. I have to work that in w/my school schedule, my dad's work schedule (his computer has internet, mine doesn't) etc. I write out my post on paper when I can, since that's always available. I'll work hard to get time, and I can get on the library computer once a week. Internet just isn't a priority with my parents, and I have to work around that. If this won't work, I'm ready to forfeit my place in the game. Thank you for your patience!

OH! No that's not a problem at all!! I completely understand. I'm 15 so I can understand where you are. No you can keep your place [img]smilies/biggrin.gif[/img] I just wasn't sure what you meant by two hours a week.
It's not a problem at all. Thank you for letting us know. And since this is your first RPG here on the Downs, we won't jump down your throat. [img]smilies/biggrin.gif[/img] You're a great writer!! -Maikafanawen

since a lot of elves have "disappeared" it makes sense that there are a bunch of people that want to find that lost brother or sister or mother. Thats why most of us seem to have lost a family member
