Correct: it is a dumb question.
Oh well! It is food, I think any hobbit would love it! Especially if a pipe came with it.

I have no idea why I thought of it, my brother just kept bugging me about pop tarts and hobbits, and it made me think...

They'd probably think it was too sweat, being not used to refined sugar. Just my two cents.

They'd poke it, sniff it, then throw it in the garbage, not thinking that iy=ts actually food (and they would be quite right)

They might try and taste every flavor out there. Would pop tarts be good at tea time?
btw What would they think of Twinkies? I think they would use them as stucco in making their holes. [ July 24, 2002: Message edited by: Aldagrim Proudfoot ]

Yeah, it'd be like: Smell good? Look good? Taste good? YUM MORE! They'd probably be a little wary at first because of the appearance though.

Tolkein always referred to himself as being like a hobbit in some respects, and since he was pretty old-fashioned he wouldn't like poptarts therefore I don't think hobbits would like them.
By the way I would love to see a hobbit with a popsicle, they would study it for so long that by the time they are done the whole popsicle is melted. Note: where would they keep popsicles since they don't have freezers.

The real question is, what wouldn't a Hobbit think of a Pop Tart and a popsicle? Honestly, I think they'd think that both were too small...

Hmm, a popsicle? They would circle it warily to make sure it wouldn't attack them (those double popsicles look like they have legs, eh) and then they'd poke it a couple times, and finally taste it gingerly. Then they'd be all BY THE VALAR GIVE ME MORE!!!
Oh, gosh...you know what I just realized? Hobbit+Pixie stick=madness!!!

I think it would be fun to give a hobbit a soda can just to see if they could open it.

Can you imagine what it would be like the first time they drank soda? (or pop as we American Northerners call it)
Experiencing the carbonation for the first time! I'm sure that it would immediately dissolve into a burping contest when they discovered that pop can cause that!

Okay, I'll admit it: I wrote an entire novel based on a Hobbit's reactions to modern America, called "Bolco Took in Massachusetts." It was really fun to write. Check out my sig if you're interested...

Please explain what a twiglet is to the ignorant Americans here, like me.
This reminds me of the childrens book. "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie." If you give a mouse a cookie he will ask for milk to wash it down. If you give the mouse milk...ect.

I think that if you gave a Hobbit a can of soda then you would have to give him pop rocks.
Fist the Hobbit would drink the soda and then find out how to open the Pop Rocks. What would happen then, I wonder? I love Pop Rocks, so I think that any adventureous Took would eat at leat two packets of them and then scar the living bejesus out of any other Hobbets as he is now foaming at the mouth with popping sounds and such.... yes what are Twiglets, something like Pocky?(pocky is a Japonese candy that is a wafer cookie stick dipped in chocolate) What would a Hobbit do with that(Pocky)? <font size=1 color=339966>[ 1:05 PM December 13, 2003: Message edited by: Annalaliath ]

lol...I would love to see a hobbit child and a popsicle...I think the children would take more to the food than adults....ie give Pippin and Merry the sugary delicious treats.
Now here's a thought.......how about a bag of microwave popcorn?

They'd throw the popcorn away if they got it from me because I always burn it. (And then it ends up tasting like twiglets )

a hobbit eating pop rocks? teehee, I'd love to see that.
Or rather, open a can of soda in front of a hobbit, and drink it, and then hand him one.. As he tries to open it, snatch it from him and shake it, then stand back as he opens it. For some reason, this has put the image of a bunch of hobbits sitting at a ball game, with the whole nights supply of corndogs in my mind...*blink*

That's mean. Although I guess so are the Pop Rocks. Just hand a Hobbit an open can of Coca cola and an open bag of Pop Rocks....
Like I told my cousin the other day Our family is sadistic!

If you're wondering what Pop Rocks are, they're a candy that is contained in packets and they look like a bunch of small pebbles, or rocks. When you put them in your mouth, they react to your saliva by fizzing and popping on your tongue. If you mix them with soda, you get a lethal combination of fizz; I wouldn't suggest doing so. Merry and Pippin would love them.

Haha, that reminds me of the Breakfast Club(one of the best movies in the world)(well, at least I think so) When the girl in the breakfast Club makes a pixy stick and cereal sandwich, oh man, it's great! Well, I think they would like popsicles, but when they discovered they give you brain freezes sometimes, then I think they would either run around in pain yelling "AHH, WHAT IS THIS MADNESS?! IT HURTS MY HEAD SO BADLY!" or just walk away from the popsicle boxes. What would they think of soda pop?

what would a hobbit think of helium?
I mean, just pop a hole in one of those birthday balloons, and hand one to a hobbit, and tell him to drink what was inside (or rather..inhale..) what d'you think the hobbit's reaction to their newly squeakified voice would be?

I wouldn't say that twiglets taste good, as such. Just that they taste interesting...almost like crunchy cardboard...!

Twiglets make me sick....
I don't think they would like them if they knew they would make you sick, but if they liked the taste, they would probably eat it anyway just because of that....

They(twiglets) sound rather bad, I am used to burnt things 'cause for half my life that is what I ate. Mom burns things regularly.
A great way to freak out the Hobbit would to have them inhale Helium. Until they got used to it. "Merry help my voice what is happenen to my voice...." as Pippen runs in circles and then attacks us for the horrid deed.

Hmm... A Hobbit with a popsicle, pop rocks, a twinky, a soda, and a pop tart. What you'd get is a very hyper Hobbit on a sugar rush! I can immagine a Hobbit trying to open the soda can. First, they would bang it on a table and if that didn't work, they'd stab it with a knife and then the soda would come spewing out everywhere in a sticky mess! However, what about the matter of keeping things cold? Did Hobbits have ice boxes, perhaps? The soda would go flat in a short while without the use of iceboxes or a way to keep it cold and fizzy.

"Really," the Hobbit would say," I don't believe you... What are you doing?!" Looking at the Hobbit with a stick of Pocky sticking out of my mouth. Taking it out I say, "Pocky is for eating." " I still don't believe you." "You know in the my culture if food is offered and refused it considered offensive." "I don't care I'm still not eating it." "I'm eating it." "Okay fine!" He then eats the whole box. I take out a bag of Pop Rocks....
