One of my absolute favourite scenes: Gandalf reports at the Council of Elrond how he came to Isengard. Saruman and Gandalf there talked about Saruman´s new many-coloured cloak, and Gandalf says he liked white better. Saruman replies that white light can be broken into many new colours, but Gandalf points out that in this case it is no longer white (i.e. pure), and he remarks that "he who breaks a thing to find out how it works inside has left the past of wisdom". This is your meddled quote. Didn´t look that up.
Edited by Sharku at: 7/6/00 12:28:54 pm |
