Sting Does Manods have Foresight

Quote:
It may be that I can unlock the jewels but never again will I make like of them, and if I must break them then my heart would break and I shall be slain, first off al the Eldar in Aman
Feanor said this to the Valar after Morgoth and Ungoliant destroyed the light of the Two Trees

Quote:
Not the first
Was what Mandos replied to him, than word came to the Valar that Morgoth has stolen the Silmaril's and slain Finwe

So my question to you guys is,does Manods have foresight.

Basically, he was the only one of the Ainur who actually paid attention during the unfolding of the history of the world. (aka the Vision ... I think) He remembered it, so yes, he does know what is going to happen, but he is not allowed to reveal it unless Manwë says he can. Why Manwë doesn't always say so is beyond me.

Perhaps this will be of use:

Quote:
Námo the elder [Fëanturi] dwells in Mandos, which is westward in Valinor. He is the keeper of the Houses of the Dead, and the summoner of the spirits of the slain. He forgets nothing; and he knows all things that shall be, save only those that lie still in the freedom of Ilúvatar.
So, yes, he did have foresight.

Yes, he had foresight. But, if I'm correct, that was because he participated only little in the Great Theme that the Valar made before Iluvatar. He rather listened and therefore knew what was going to happen. That is why he is the Doomsman of the Valar.

greetings,
lathspell

Yeah, he definitely has foresight. It's his schtick. Ulmo is God of Waters, Manwe of Air, Mandos is the Vala of Death and is also the prophet of the Valar. All the Valar have foresight to some degree, in fact almost everyone in Middle-Earth does - Aragorn, Gandalf, Sam. But Mandos can see things that even Manwe can't. He's one scary guy.
