Sauron_the_Abhorred has just left Hobbiton.
Sting Mistake or not?

AT the ending of the Lord of the Rings, after the One was destroyed, and the power and makings of the Three had passed away, this means Rivendell and Lorien would have passed away, but Frodo and Co. go back to Rivendell and Galadriel and Co. go back to Lorien, but would they still be there. I have a feeling I'm wrong, but could ya'll help me please.

Greetings, Sauron_the_Abhorred! Wlcome to the 'Downs.

Lorien and Rivendell continued to exist geographically after the Ring was destroyed. Arwen went back to Lorien (at least, where it was - there were no more elves there by that time) after King Elessar died. The "passing away" of Lorien and Rivendell did occur gradually, not as an instant extinguishing when the Ring was destroyed.

Very true. The cities would fade just like the elves. It makes me wonder though, what would they look like? The elves went away, but didn't destroy the city, and brick walls don't just fall over. So what would the cities have looked like afther let's say 5 years? Some sort of ghost town I think.

Lorien and Rivendell would probably come to look like old Ost-in-Edhil, or Hollin as it is called when the Company passes through it. This is what Gandalf has to say about it:

Quote:
There is a wholesome air about Hollin. Much evil must befall a country before it wholly forgets the Elves, if once they dwelt there.
After which Legolas replies:

Quote:
That is true ... Only I hear the stones lament them: 'deep they delved us, fair they wrought us, high they builded us; but they are gone.' They are gone. They sought the Havens long ago.

Those two lands probably became areas of misty forest, full of faint memories of the song, dance, and merry-making of the Eldar. I don't think that they would be very happy places to visit, because they are memories of a long-faded race.

Imladris and Lothlorien would exist in the physical world, but their essence, that was the essence of Elvendom, would be vanished forevermore.

No, I think that the essence would linger, but be in morning rather than joy. When you are around elves, they seem to lighten the spirit, but I think that these places would make you weep from sorrow.

I would picture the old elven realms like Lorien and Rivendell as beginning to become overgrown with plants and trees as nature began to reclaim them. As time passed the buildings might begin to crumble (sort of like ancient ruins) but perhaps not, being Elvish. I would imagine the atmosphere around them to be sort of mystical and magical. If you were standing in the middle of, say, Rivendell, you would probably be able to feel a trace of the elvish folk who once lived there, underlying the land, although you might not even know what you were feeling unless you were familiar with the place's history.
