What was the special characteristic of the Silmaril's light?
I know that they were filled with the light of the Valinor Trees.
But it is said that the Valar could bring back to life the 2 trees using the Silmarils. Is it true? Why is it said that with the light of the trees you could see the true nature of the creatures?

The light of the Silmarils was the only remain of the trees. So, if the Valar controlled it, they could bring back the light I think...
How was the size of a Silmaril? I believe it was said that Melkor catched them all with his hand, but he was bigger than a man. I imagine them somewhat egg-shaped, but smaller and thinner, standing at the top of Morgoth's crown... |

In the Second Prophecy of Mandos (HoME 5) Feanor presents the Silmaril's to Yavanna, and she breaks them, and the trees come back to life. As for it's legibility in the later canon, I am sceptical.
