The Hobbit Movie

Has anybody heard anything about whats going on it terms of the rights for it being acquired?

Alright. And the rights to the Hobbit still belong to the Tolkien estate? Or does Miramax, who thought about doing LotR, have them?

Which doesn't mean much of anything really, suing over profits is the movie industry way of begining negotations, and it rarely stops people from continuing to work together.

Actually, as I understand it, New Line has the right to make a movie based on The Hobbit, but another studio (Universal???) holds the distribution rights. At least, that's where it stood last year, and I've heard nothing concrete about negotiations since then.
