I did not see any Easterlings in The Return Of The King, just Southrons.
Do you mean Pippin, not Merry? It wasn't in the right scene, but we did get to see Pippin saving (?) Gandalf from the blade of an Orc in Minas Tirith. I believe this was a substitute.

Actually, I'm not at all sure now. I certainly did not notice any Easterlings, whereas the Southrons were easy to spot as they had on the same uniform as they did in The Two Towers.

I think Pippin and the troll got cut until the EE (possibly gone forever), because I heard accounts that he had a run-in with one, & I don't think that what happened at the Gate was quite what they meant. Who know, though :/ ?

Well, I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who didn't manage to spot any Easterlings on the Pelennor Fields. No, wait, I'm not glad I'm outraged!
Just today I listened to Richard Taylor prattle on about the amount of work that went into the costumes of the Easterlings that we see (travelling up from the south ) in The Two Towers. Sure, that was a lovely few minutes of film, but why waste time on that if they don't even appear in The Return of the King?!
Either put them in, or don't, I say. None of this halfway stuff. I really hope they appear in the Extended Edition, or their one appearance is absolutely pointless as Southrons could have been more easily (and accurately) used. I guess if they did that there'd be one less action figure, though.
