Hi, it's Arvegil145.
I wanted to ask you a question, if you're interested in this sort of thing, but it concerns Tolkien Gateway.
Long story short, for practically two decades the site has depicted the last 6 centuries of the First Age ('Beleriand years') with the abbreviation of F.A. (short for 'First Age'), causing utter confusion among its readers, thinking that the First Age began with the first rising of the Sun.
Funny thing is, the basis of that timeline (Grey Annals) uses the abbreviation YS instead.
The debate on TG for the last year or so is whether to adopt:
1) What Tolkien himself wrote (YS)
2) To adopt something like F.A. with a superscript indicating either Years of the Trees (Y.T.) or Years of the Sun (Y.S.)
3) To adopt Y.T. and Y.S. with a superscript indicating First Age (F.A.)
I'm genuinely sorry to bother you with this, but I promised to ask you on the other TG editors' behalf.
